shooting sticks

Primos Trigger Stick Gen 3. Have shot several animals off it. My wife as well. Absolutely do not go hunting where I expect shots to be past 100m anymore without it. I took a shot at a doe hanging onto the side of a tree at 300, and I pulled the shot low and left...had to finish her off with a second shot... That was the last time I went hunting without a good support system. since using the trigger stick I always feel confident and have a stable, adjustable platform to shoot off... 100% recommend it.

I have and use all kinds of supports. Trigger sticks tripods ( short and tall) trigger sticks bipod ( tall) and lots of different bipod stick both store bought and home made. I rarely ever pack the trigger stick big game hunting but do always carry primos shock cord type sticks. Coyote hunting I use a set of diy quad pod stick that are awesome. I've used my quadpod sticks to target practice out past 900 yds which is quite good considering it's a seated field hunting position. I do practice off hand alot and am no slouch but I will always grab sticks and go supported if at all possible.

Lots of folks making this a lot harder than it needs to be.

If you already own hiking poles you have shooting sticks. Fully extend, flip
the wrist loops over the grip on the opposite pole so they form a sling between the two crossed poles.

Carry a small hatchet with you or a heavy pair of cut off pliers. Cut a couple of scrub saplings and tie together with electrical tape to the desired height to form a crotch. When you are done stick them in the brush and they will be there the next time you come back. Even if it is next year. I have left them spread all over the bush where we moose hunt. Cheap and disposable unless you are uptight about leaving a bit of electrical tape in the bush.

I bought a trekking pole from Cabelas that has a V yoke on the top of it. Have only used the trekking pole part of it though.

Every time I am in the Dollarama I see bamboo poles and think that they'd be perfect for this sort of thing, just add some rubber tubing and a pivot...

I use the wiser quick-stix as I already use poles seems good, thinking of getting the third leg for glassing

I just used a BOG Pod this year for the first time. I've got a similar version and have used it to take deer out on the prairies. I also have a set of wooden sticks from African Sporting Creations that work pretty well too.

My favorite shooting sticks are a couple of 1/2" fiber glass electric fence posts and a couple castration rings. They are indestructable, and nobody will steal them off the back of your truck.
