Shooting the MR1 Today.

Funny story, I went to my range today with a buddy and low and behold I meet the sales manager from beretta/stoeger/sako/tikka/benelli and he had a very new and very rare gun to test shoot. He was holding the very first MR1 in Canada. Well I guess when he saw my jaw drop and almost sh!* myself he asked if I wanna to try it out for him first. Of course I said yes and let me tell all of you, this is a very sweet non-restric rifle to shoot. It had NO hiccups, cycled smooth, ejected the brass with authority(it ends up spitting them almost behind you) and was very easy to handle in a rapid burst string.

He told me the retail price and they should be around the $1700-1800 mark, but I guess it would depend on retailers. He also told me when they will be available, but then he told to forget about it so I would not spread the word. Lets just say they will be here VERY soon. The only problem that we had was the tangodown mags I had on hand from a friend's M4 would not release at all from the gun, we had to almost pry it out. He told us before hand that it would take any AR mag but I guess this is why they test them before selling. Metals mags work flawless but the poly mags seemed to stick. Not a big deal but for people who have only plastic mags and are considering buy this rifle might not want to use them.

The stock/grip area looks a bit funny, but that only matters when you're not shooting it. Can it take the collapsible Benelli stocks?
 
Guns & Ammo magazine ran a test on that rifle a few months ago. They DID mention that some AR magazines wouldn't work, especially the ones that have dust lips on them. G & A also mentioned that USGI mags work just fine in that rifle.

I think it'd look pretty sharp with a magpul PRS on it!

Do you think the brass ejection is lefty-friendly enough?
 
i hope it will be available with a different stock. Because i want to use it with a scope. And all the reviews i've read said that it it.s hard to use with a scope because of the droping style stock.
