Shooting the SVT-40...Video.

Today at the range shot a 100 rounds of 7.62X54r, gaz setting @ 1.3 not a single malfunction with Sellier&Belliot 180 gr SP... JP. http://youtube.com/user/57caramel1

Nice! I shot an SVT40 for the first time about a month ago. I found it 100% reliable! Not sure if it was me, the gas setting on the rifle or something else, but the recoil was 'sharp'... Not unpleasant, just something I noticed...

The trick i found is to start with the low setting and go one at the time and as soon it have no malfunctions you stay there, going higher will make the recoil greater, but changing ammo could need an adjustment... JP.

What distance are you shooting at? How a was the accuarcy/ group sizes for this old Semi Auto?

100 metres groups were 2 inch or less with S&B 180 gr SP... JP.

Love those old monsters. I so need to get one next to my Mosins again... I just don't want to spend the money on how much ammunition I would put through them.
