Hi all. I'm thinking about purchasing a Dominion Arms Grizzly Mag with the 15" barrel for some casual shooting.
Just curious if I would have any chance hitting some clays with a barrel that short?
Thanks, and sorry in advance for the newb question!

15" is pretty short, however, I shot trap the other day with a guy who had a 20" or 22" and he did just fine, only missed two in any given round.

i shoot trap frequently with my 18" bbl and usually only miss 2 0r 3 per round.. i find it comes up quicker, but with the short barrel i find i also lead way to much and have to slow my swing down..

What do you mean by "it comes up quicker"? Do you not pre mount your gun before you call for the target?

Thanks for the quick replies guys!
Based on your info it sounds like I should be able to break a few at least! That's all I'm really looking for with this style of shotgun, if I enjoy trap enough I'll purchase something more "purpose built".

He probably does not! Why would anyone want to with a shorty? There is no rule that requires a pre mount before you call for your target.

I didn't say there was a "rule" about pre mount.... He mentioned "it comes up quicker" I hope he was talking about his shotgun.

Yes, you can hit clays with a short barrel. If you just want to blast some hand thrown clays with your buddies you should be able to hit most of them with the Grizzly.

It is quite possible to shoot a 25/25 at skeet with a short barrel, I've done it with a 12.5" Grizzly and I'm an average skeet shooter. But short barrels are bloody loud and it's also easy to stop your swing since there is very little weight out front to keep you moving. Also you will probably find that the rifle sights on the 15" grizzly will be a bit of an impairment when shooting at moving targets.

I've shot trap with my Mossberg 590A1 (20" cyl bore) with #4 birdshot. It actually worked out quite well (21/25) especially considering that I always called for the birds when in the low ready position.

Hell of a lot of fun and quite the challenge. Love the ghost rings for it though. I tried again with an actually trap gun and absolutely sucked with just the bead. Went back to the ghost rings and started hammering the birds again no problem.

These guys are talking about trap though, the bird is already 16 yards away when it gets out of the house!!
I'll stick to my long barrels for that stuff!:D

In Trap, once the gun is mounted (before the target is called for) you shouldn't be looking at the sights at all. Your eyes should be locating the target. Then swing the gun accordingly.
