The key with a shooting vest is fit so try before you buy if possible. I use an older Browning vest that is discontinued. I've tried other vests but nothing quite matches the old Browning for fit and features. The Browning you are looking at is their base model and it would work just fine providing it fits.

The picture you posted comes from SAIL and they have an outlet at Highway 24 and 401. So not that far a drive from Stratford. I've seen vests at Gobles and at Shooter's Choice in Waterloo. Don't be surprised if there isn't a large selection. This isn't a usual time of the year to for people to buy shooting vests and the selection is usually better once the weather starts to warm up.

You will find some Browning and Beretta and perhaps some Wild Hare ones around at gun shops. On line, there are a few in the US. These are custom made ones where you send your measurements to them and they send you the finished product. Shoot the Moon and Storm brands are two that come to mind and are high quality.

I use a cabelas branded one that is essentially the same.

I like it because its light, and the pocket holds an entire box of shells easily.

I wear it summer and winter over my coat, so keep that in mind when sizing. Wayyyyy better than a pouch.

I'm using a Silver / Florescent yellow...Browning Custom

(( I had to add some more material between the 1X....and the 3X).....Laugh2....It's a great vest now :dancingbanana:

I am using a Wild Hare vest as well. I found it at a sporting clays coarse south of Saskatoon. They have larger sizes, which is nice as we all aren't a medium. I also bought a Wild Hare sporting clays bag at the same time. It has all kinds of room and pouches for glasses, choke tube etc and I like it quite well. I had an issue with the sewing on the strap and I called the company in the US and they sent a replacement, no questions asked. Very happy with their stuff so far.

I have a few in the closet, Beretta, Orvis, L.L. Bean and a couple of custom vests picked up at the Grand. For the most part, they stay in the closet. They do get used occasionally on nice spring & fall days, but are just too hot during the summer. Even the mesh varieties.

During the summer I find a belt pouch and empty hull bag (with a zippered bottom) to be more comfortable and practical. Cooler months, I use either a Beretta
or heavier weight Bob Allen jacket with big pockets.

Brand doesn’t matter much but do like international Skeet style vests.

Pad runs from pocket to shoulder with no added recoil pad in the vest nothing to catch on and slick.

Picked up a vest at bass pro last weekend. Dad and I were out and about and stopped in to see if they had one its a browning cost 59 plus tax seemed like a good deal. I don't like shopping at the big stores but them seem to be the only ones around with them.

I'm thinking about a new vest. Currently have a bass pro vest that is catching the stock a bit, seems like theres an area that dosent stay flat just below my shoulder. I suspect it distracts me just enough to be in my mind. Or the o/u I shoot may just be a touch longer than the other gun I shoot.
Either way, I am going to be in Montreal next week. Does anyone know where I may be able to try out a few before I buy one?

I was in Oshawa this last weekend and took a trip to Gagnon's. I have been ridiculed for shooting trap with my pouch for quite a while now and have been looking for a vest. Gagnon's had all Beretta clothing on for 1/2 price. I got a nice vest for well under $100. I'm pretty stocky and purchased a ###L. It fits over a light winter jacket.

I ended up getting a vest on amazon . its a seeland skeet vest. I ordered it from the .com site not the ca i was surprised that i didn't get dinged for extra shipping or duty. It came from the uk. The fit is good and seems to be a well made garment.
