I have shot at night, and I have used night vision equipment, but I have never shot while wearing NV. Speaking of night vision monoculars with 1X magnification...

1.) When a night vision monocular is used in conjunction with a weapon sight what happens at the moment of firing? Does the NV device block out some or all of the light from the muzzle flash? Does it expose the user to an uncomfortably bright flash through the monocular? Does exposure / repeated exposure to muzzle flash damage the tube in the NV device?

2.) While using a NV monocular are you able to look through another optical device such as a magnified rifle scope with illuminated reticle of appropriate brightness level? Or can you only use a 1X optic?

I would appreciate any imput from those who have had opportunity to shoot with NV.

All depends I have a NV scope on my ar but I dont notice it with a flash hider on at all I never tryed it with out one in fear of damage.

As for optics and a monocular dont work well at all unless they are rated for use with NV I can see my NV eotec with a NV monocular no problem because its made for NV but when tryed to use it with a scope it wont happen the NV has to much glare from the optic lens

Most good NV will be damaged by extream light I have seen a few that got trashed from flash bangs .On my scope it says right on it do not use in daylight

This is just going on what I have seen in no way am I expert

Night vision isn't designed to work with most magnified optics. The current military PVS-14 monocular has a mount available called a "monoloc" that will allow it to be attached directly to the rear of some optics so that they can be a night capable. (not the C79, and I have never seen them on hand anywhere) The problem it creates is an increase in the required butt length in order to get behind the rifle, but for static shooting you could possibly get around it. The EOTECH does work with night vision but I personally didn't like it, I prefer to use the IR lasers.
