Shooting without Sights

never did a lot of center fire rifle, but years ago I was fairly good hip shooting clays with 1911 45acp and colt 38special
Also chopped up old 2x4's into squares, they would stand up easy, and good for a few round before they blew apart.

"chopped up old 2x4's" - absolutely the best for 6 and 7 year olds when they start - "stuff happens" when hit; nothing happens with a miss - they definitely catch on to that!!! I never was much into handguns, but nice to hear that the idea works there as well - my kids started on 2x2 "gophers" with .22 rimfire rifles - and now the grandkids are into that as well - all the mess ends up in the fire pit for weiner roast!!

I never saw it taught that late. My wife kills me with credit cards, lol.

As a private, it didn’t make sense back then... years later not only does it not make sense, I can’t believe it was still thought by some "older folks" not to call them dinosaurs that just held on to this instead of stepping into 21st century :p

For a good laugh and to help some guys that think aren’t as good in CQB as others. You think you suck ?!?look at what we did back then !! :p

It's hard for some people to forget what was drilled into them despite newer and better being developed.

I still chicken wing when shooting standing as it was what was taught for so long, not that it matters for me since I'm retired.
