shooting without sights

My latest discovery (yesterday) is that I can shoot faster and more accurate without even looking at sights. If I try to use sights it will either be more accurate but way way slower or sloppy and very inaccurate. Sort of shooting by the way gun fits in my hand. I wanted it to happen but when it started happening it was like "whoa". Does anybody shoot like that? And how did you get to this point. I am really curious now. I shoot one-handed all the time, no any particular stance, just see target and drop it. Am I frigging handgun geniuous now or is it me doing something wrong? Or is it normal. I am talking serious stuff - 20 yards steel silhouette targets, no point blank TV boxes

I want to get to that point with my shotgun, no need to look at the bead, just know what im going to hit by the way my body is positioned.

Instinctive shooting

Common for some shotgunners and old school style pistolers(think Detonics lovers for example)

Once upon a time I won an IPSC match at the Haliburton club after removing the sights from my Open gun...
What you are seeing is good eye hand coordination, the gun points where you look, some people are alot better at it than others. I have to work very hard on my index to keep that kind of shooting skill, others can do it fairly naturally. Generally the farther/harder the target the more sights you have to use, but it depends and varies with each individual.

I'm doing that with my shotguns. I haven't gotten into handguns yet. Rifles I don't think I will ever feel the need.

Instinctive aimimg FTW

very effective, at the ranges you use a pistol at (<25 yards) using your thumbs to point to the target is VERY fast and accurate.

EDIT

If your holding the gun right, when your looking at your target, when you bring your gun up the sights should be within milimeters of lining up with your eyes (if not perfectly).

It's called point shooting I do it and all good shot-gunners do it.

I try to explain it like a pitcher that looks at the plate just once ,then at first back at second and then turns and throws at the plate and never ounce looks at home but in his mind allready knows where the ball is going!

Thats the way point shooting works ,your eye sees the target your hand moves the gun carries and discharges where your mind and eye direct it to!

The bullet hits where the mind and eye direct it!

Yes that is exactly what it feels like! Just look at the target and drop it. It is sooo cool.

Im not that accurate yet, but I find it a lot of times that I only use sights for the first 2-3 shots than the last 9-8 I dont even remember seeing the sights.

I heard if you practice enough and get used to where you're actually pointing the fire-arm, you dont have to use sights, the gun is just aligned because of your grip.
