Looking for an inexpensive bolt action for a youth shooter, and even an occasional truck gun.

just wondering if any of the guns have a huge competitive edge over the others, i realize most are similar, also, who carries these guns? Preferrably a CGN SUPPORTING DEALER

I have no comparison info for the models you are asking about, but I REALLY like my Savage Rascal. I bought it for my younger nephews to use, but it's become my primary casual hiking/hunting 22. I like the Savage fire control system in particular: It's easy to adjust the trigger pull weight, and it's easy to work on. The sights are another huge plus, in my opinion.

I have a hotshot here. Adjustable LOP and well built. Its on its Second kid. Also have a marlin xt22 youth repeater that's probably the best value IMO.

I had a Henry Mini-Bolt that shot just great and was a well made little rifle.
My buddy bought it for use as quad gun, then a short time later fit a stainless
bull barrel to 'er and made it into a mini bench gun. Different for sure,
but it worked super.:)

I think you need to get some of these options in your hand, and then consider the size of the kid. The TC and Rascal/Cub are so tiny in my hands I can't shoot them well at all. I've never held a Henry. I do know the Rascal has a great trigger, nice sights, cocks with the upswing of the bolt (nice for dad) and has a spring loaded feed ramp that lets you basically drop the round in and close the bolt. (vs. Cooeys, for instance) My daughter loves hers.

I have a Norinco JW15A "Backpacker" which is my bad weather hiking gun from about September to April. Love that thing, but the LOP is more adult-sized.

After looking at and handling several "youth" rifles, I liked the Marlin 715 the best.

I bought my 2-year old a Rascal but I'm using it until he's older. At 32" OAL and just under 3 lbs, it makes a great backpacker.
The transition from the Rascal to a bigger rifle will be easy as everything's the same, just shrunk down.
