Short Action Long Range Hunting Calibers

Barrel life will last a bit longer if a person doesn't run back to back shots when the barrel is hot, take a brake and let it kool down.

Pipe down the powder charge for the target days, program that load into your ballistics app and run with it in the off season,,, this will extend barrel life.

The second data app is the hot hunting loads, most shooters normally run with them for a few months, and only a few shots.

Of coures this is just an option.

I'm a mid caliber shooter, I don't need to burn out barrels for F Class shooting or plinking.

Only enough to reach the 900 meter mark.

I've found many Australians who like short actions. I've also found long action guys, magnum shooters, large bore fans; a happy contingent of Weatherby nuts, double and otherwise express rifle guys and some that are quite into all things .338 and large cased. There's also the normal and expected crowd of whatever is cheapest and the pile of Blue Box Federal at the LGS looks about the same as at home. F- Class? Yep. PRS and IPSC too.

About the only thing missing is the SKS crowd; but if you can tell a few stories about ripping through $300 cases of X 39 you'll probably drink for nothing.
