I looking at getting a short barrel for my AR. The ones I am looking at are the
- north eastern arms 10.5" Barrel 1:7 Twist $ 210
- DPMS 11.5" chrome lined, super heavy profile, 1:9. Incl A2 front sight $300

If anyone has use these and can comment on thanks

Not to be a A$$ but why you going so short?

Shorter ARs can be problematic. You may want to consider a 14.5"

I've run both a 10.5" and 11.5" in the past and after moving past the 14inch mark I can say function has improved, as well the rifle isn't as "Punishing" on the ears.

Have a 7.5 inch NEA barrel running an NEA gas block, NEA gas tube with a Dlask XB1 brake with a Brownells BCG on a cerro forged upper.

As consistent as my 14.5 and 16 uppers. No FTE, FTF or accuracy issues over several hundred rounds.

The NEA barrel will suit you fine. They seem to have a good rep overall. When it comes to their barrels that is.

Sounds like the dude wants to make a PDW. Sounds awesome!

NEA does make some decent barrels, I have an 18" with a Daniel Defence low profile gas block, and they both work really well together. I'd consider another NEA barrel, for a PDW/SBR type rifle. As for the DPMS, I can't 100% comment on them, but I don't recall hearing anything negative about the barrels themselves. As for the A2 sight, do you know what type of sighting system you're going for? I have both a fixed A2 on my 16" and folding on my 18" I like both for their purposes.

How is the norinco 14.5 barrel?

they work, ive never heard of a barrel failure, but i think when they are sold used they are overpriced.
ive seen people selling the 10.5" uppers for $550 (cant remember if the bcg was included) but the whole rifle complete is what...$650 new?

you may be able to come out ahead if you buy one and part it out and just keep what you want lol(and the newer ones come with ambi controls)
