any short barrel bolt action with a 12 inch or less barrel and over all length over 26 inch do these exist chambered in 308win would be kinda cool

They don't exist... and would have pretty limited uses. Look at the Ruger M77 Compact and new M7 compact rifles... they are about as small as a useful rifle can be.

If you are will to go with a lever action, the Henry Mares Leg has the right dimensions, but again, unless you add a full buttstock they are next to useless.

I don't think I'd mess around with shorter than ~17-18". Not very practical.

I am, however, considering a barrel chop on my 6.5x55 to about 20" and trimming down the stock to give it "win 94" -ish handling.

I know BC hunting regs require a 12" barrel. 10"-14" TC Contenders are used for hunting in the US. No reason you couldn't use a 12" custom to do the same. Thing is, it seems the larger the caliber and heavier the bullet, the less velocity loss in a short barrel. Think a 14" 458WM. Have to be a custom barrel though. Unless you used a Mare's Leg or something.

I have a youth Rem700 DM in 243. It's the shortest bolt I've seen.

Win 94 Trapper 30-30 are really short 34", but not a bolt.

An unintended consequence of a very short barrel of normal contour, is a butt heavy rifle, that's so out of balance its much more difficult to shoot well, or quickly, which presumably was the point of the exercise.

I'm thinking of having my 24" .221 f.b 700 classic cut down to 16" or 18".... it was developed as a pistol round so the short barrel shouldn't hurt. 12" seems a little too small.

It is illegal to cut it shorter than 18".

^^^ This ^^^ ...... I wouldnt go shorter than 18.5" for this very reason. I have found 20 to be better. I have a 20" M700 in 308 and it handles perfectly.
