Short barrel for Winchester 1300

I've got a 1300 with the 28 inch tube and I want to get a basic short barrel, doesn't need to be threaded for chokes or have sights. Can one be had for a reasonable price? When I can get a maverick 88 for 250 I am hardly going to pay 200 for just a barrel.
Another thing I am thinking of is getting an old bird hunting barrel and cutting it down to 19". On the 1300 will a barrel from a 120, 1200 fit? Any other models that work? Don't think the 12 does.

Are you sure? I read on some forums that 1300 barrel will fit 1200 but 1200 barrel won't fit on a 1300. WHat about the 120 barrel?

My other question, how do you get a defender barrel to fit on a field model 1300? The defenders have the lug that attaches the barrel in a different location.. seems you would need to get a defender magazine put on the field 1300, is that possible?

Depends on the model year defender. the older and original 1300 Defender models had 18 " barrels and 7+1 capacity mag tubes. Later defenders had the 18 & 20" barrels but only had a 5+1 mag tube.

No idea on the 120 barrel but have in the past fitted a 1200 barrel on a 1300 receiver without issue.

Thanks for confirming that I thought the 1200 would fit but I was not quite sure. I think I will try to get an old 1200 tube and cut it down.. Do a bit of redneck gunsmithing with the hacksaw. Sure wish barrels were as available as for the 870.
