Short berral lever action rifle(nonrestricted)

Carverk I once knew a man who was a true mechanic/welder/fabricator etc. A man I would not call dumb. He also couldn't read. Don't let some people on here get you down; heck reading/writing posts is good practice for your spelling skills.

"Assualt Rifle" is a term used lots by the anti-gun crowd. So its a dirty word on here. I understand you meant it as a joke but now you know.

god help you if you had called a mag a clip, they would have eaten you alive :)

Assault Rifle sounds fine when we say it but when they say it it's Racist!

And I agree posting here will improve your reading and writing and computer skills......It's like free education if you don't pay yourself for the time spent!

my reading is fine bad spelling after all ther are sum here that dont know much about firearms laws it ok that whiy I jont gunnutz I have lernt sunthing to expeshly with m14 not a rifle i wood take to work but fun to shot and hunt with. as fore assalt rifle do I have to call it a white mans boom-stik

Here is my short barrel lever action assault rifle- Mdl 94 Trapper w/16" barrel in 45 Colt. When I take this rifle for bear defense I load up 300GR hard cast bullets with a big flat meplat to 1700fps.

It's very light and handy to carry in the steep terrain and thick bush of the coastal mountains. It almost seems like carrying a pellet rifle!:)

:D hahahahaha I'll talk to the guys about that one.

Don't take it too personally if some guys make fun of you because of your spelling man. It's not a big deal to most of us here. It's just that, since this is an online forum, we have nothing to judge a persons smarts or personality on other than his spelling and grammar. Some guys take it a little too far.

I hope you find the rifle that you're looking for. I don't have any better advice for you than a lot of the other guys have already given you. Good Luck and don't get eaten by any of those grizzlys'.

Another short barrel option is this pump shotgun. It's got a 14" barrel and I put a "youth" rear stock on it to shorten it up some more. I hand filed a sturdy front rifle sight that won't ever bend....

Load that up with Brenneke slugs and it's good for rhino.:p

nice set I mite get permet to carry hand gun in the bush but still preffer rifle lest hassal when working in difrent provences. handguns are hard to shoot good ad presher thats a sumthing i dot like.rifles I have handel as a kid revolver as back up wood be ok

I have a 14 inch shootgun good fore arond cook-hous but norico and the grizzlys are havy and im much better with a rifle I know the best rig fore me and that is a short barral lever action rifle 4 or 5 ronds

I dont' carry the handguns in the bush, they just happened to be in the picture. Permits are too big a hassle and I have a rifle around all the time. The 45 Colt lever action is real nice, more power than a .44 Mag and a nice package. I agree about the shotgun. Compact but heavier than the lever action. And slugs are heavier than 45 Colt ammunition.

Lever acssions is sunthing i grow up with hell every one has My browning lever is grate more then power to kill enythin it needs to, but it can be improved on

bear gun

I have worked in the bush all over B.C. cruising timber logging and huntingsince 1968. I have met up with MANY coastal brownies, grizzlies and black bears. I have been bluff charged by 2 grizzlies, 1 brown bear and I forget how many black bears. I have only shot 1 black bear in self defense. All of these charges happened so fast I would have been lucky to have got a gun off my shoulder and into action fast enough. I have a good friend who worked as a conservation officer for 30 years. He has dispatched many bears some wounded and charging. His weapon of choice for wounded bears in the thick stuff was a 20 inch pump gun extended mag loaded alternately with ssg and slugs. He told me that the ssg was first and he always shot for the face. This would slow them down and hopefully turn the charge the slug was next for a kill. If things got further complicated he just kept pumping and shooting. I saw him do this to a boar grizzly that had mauled an elk hunter and the hunter had wounded the bear. My friend used a dog to locate the bear. when it charged 7 shots sounded like they came from a machine gun. The bear died 10 feet away. My point is rarely will you need a gun for defense against a bear but if you do it has to be VERY fast to get into action and it must be potent enough to kill quickly. I think shotguns are best followed by a short powerful rifle with a big bullet 45 70 will fit the bill 44 mags don't in my opinion. What do you guys think?

I think... that when I knew I was going to pick a fight with a grizzly I have taken my .375 H&H and now my .375 Ruger, but if I am hiking and want a gun to carry and not get left at camp, it shoudl be as light and compact as possible for the rare event of a charge, which is why I like the little Trapper.

A hot loaded 45 colt or 44 magnum in a carbine isn't a slouch.

Actually I think this other post of Carverk's is better....:)

Hello this is the first time I have posted anything.
I am just curious as to if anybody has tried this new scope mount.
I know that this batch is a small one, so I ordered three of them.
The first one is going on my Polytech.
Now I have to buy two more M14!
My plan is to make some videos with me and my brother hunting with this new scope mont.
I live on the Queen Charlotte islands(Haida Gwii) so the first one will be me hunting raccoons .
This spring will be mounted goat fall will be moose and deer hunting.
Plus some wolves.
Thought it might be fun to make some videos with a bunch of Indians hunting with M14. It first one is popular I have a friend in fim school that will produce professional quality DVDs .
Just curious has anyone tried CASM mount yet.
