Short range thumper suggestions.

Not bad at all. The brake is an ATRS model, with no venting. It has more of a loud whump than a crack. Far, and I mean far from most of the obnoxious stuff thats ported or has a brake you meet at the range. By that comparison, also far less sharp that a 308 or a regular 300wm
Nothing on the current atrs site looks like that, cept maybe their flash suppressor
Tough to believe the blast is as you say, but then perception is always different for everyone

It was originally for a 300 blackout, LOL. Genuinely, I have had others fire it while I am there and vice versa, not bad at all.

I had good fun with me former Steyr Big Bore in .450 Marlin. Solid, well made & accurate unit that worked best from a stand or blind for me. I ran only hardcast 405gr RNFP boolits through 'er at a tad over 1400 fps. I only sold the beasty later on as I much prefer lever rifles with exposed hammers.

This little Rossi RH in .45 Colt I done up is me favorite bush thumper & plinker. Hardcast 300-330gr truncated cone FP boolits pushed out at around the same
speeds as above are sure shoulder busters on both sides of any critters found in these parts. Inside 80 yds be best shooting distance for me.

Been packing my 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 375JDJ the last couple of weeks.

Love that little thumper but I am now looking at selling my 20" T/C Katahdin Encore/Prohunter barrel in 45-70 and buying a 15" 45=70 barrel to replace it would load it with 350gr - 460gr WLNGC's.
