I just wanted to post a few things about some issues we are having supplying some products to our customers. We have noticed a very limited inventory from our various suppliers on many products. This is due to extraordinary demand south of the border along will limited manufacturing during the pandemic. There are many affected products but and bulk handgun ammo, 22 lr ammo, handguns, henry rifles and many others are very hard to get. Some customers are asking us to order for them certain firearms and we are unable to give an ETA with much certainty as there just isn't any supply. We are lucky to have lots of 22 ammo, and a decent supply of handguns but this will be difficult for us to replace. Of course, with high demand, comes price increases by suppliers , so,m even when we do replace inventory, there is the potential for a higher price on those products. Please be understanding when placing a 'special' order that we are doing what we can to track items down for our clients but ETAs may be longer than normal or even impossible to say with any certainty. Thank you to Clay and all the staff there, you are doing great stuff: thanks for trying the best you can too. I think some people are not realizing that we are very dependent on the USA and what happens there for our hobby, and that we have to adapt to what is happening south of the border.

I have encouraged my friends and family who live close to you (Kitscoty, Vermillion, etc) to get in to see you and get some stock for the coming upland game, migratory and big game hunting seasons: even for those that don't shoot much having that one box of .30-06 on the shelf might not do any more. Even for those that practice once a year and shoot that one deer, expending 4-6 rounds a year, I am encouraging them to have 4-5 boxes stashed away in a good ammo can with a desiccant pack (we can debate that in another thread) bought from you guys.

I posted this in another sponsor's thread, but it's the same thing:

Those who have bought extra ammo, bought those items they were waiting to buy, will not be sad about it: if everything came back to normal tomorrow they still have ammo to shoot and something to shoot it with. I know I decided to try and get a hold of the last two items on the “wish list” early because of this...

I see it at work. I am just sitting down for lunch while posting this after a teleconference meeting. I had to state in the meeting that supplies of custom equipment were now 12 weeks late and that my staff have progressed everything we can but the job is stalled until it comes... whenever: wholesaler/importer is getting no answers from factory. I am scrambling to keep from lying off half the crew.

So, the Summary: if guns and ammo are selling out in the USA and Prophet River can’t bring stuff to Canada, if you end up with no ammo, than that’s on you...
 
Thanks for the heads up, I will probably stock up on some more .22LR asap. Guess that Henry Big Boy X-Model will have to wait.

I understand that point, however, we are not trying to drive sales that way; just trying to get people to understand why we can't get their item in a reasonable amount of time. Sometimes perceived shortages can lead to self fulfilling prophecy, this is not one of those times.
High demand is great for business but high demand without product to sell is not :(

I believe the U.S. Suppliers are backed up, lets think outside the box, maybe suppliers we aren't that used to in other parts of the world can fill in some places where we are short, try something new, it would be good to not be so dependant on the U.S. For everything. With them we are always second to their needs! Also our own producers ( made in Canada) need to step up, this is an opportunity for them to increase capacity and even sell to other countries including the U.S. If they are short!

But now you are potentially exposed to warranty issues or the prices going up quite a bit and then dealing with a consumer complaining about the pricing and such

The post won't increase sales, it will actually make people think twice before ordering and putting down a deposit. I've bought a lot from Prophet River and even when they've gone to considerable lengths to find obscure stuff for me, they've never once even hinted at pressure, even when I decided not to buy. Prophet River is, in my experience, the very best of examples of why local independent specialists are infinitely better and worthy of support than big box retailers. Somehow, they generally manage to win on price, too.

They understand better than anyone that an empty store doesn't last long (e.g. Target in Canada), so they have no interest in speeding up empty shelves. A shelf that stays empty for too long is a business in deep trouble.

That is the big issue for us now and going forward for the next while, demand is great to have but demand without supply is not good for any business.

Have you ever tried to get warranty work done to an American made gun,,, I have, horror show, " Grech outdoors"!!! I wouldn't worry too much about that part. Prices are gone up and going up anyway, the OP just said it. Quality workmanship and reasonable prices is what we should be looking for, there are many alternate suppliers offering just that, especially if our gun stores start buying in more volume!
 
No more carelessly blowing away ammo on a range day....Im sitting on all my guns amd ammo and am gonna weather this storm. Thankfully I have more then enough to suite my needs. I paid $80 for a pound of Blackhorn 209 a few days ago....things are getting out of hand expensive. Hope you guys weather this storm as well....no product to sell is a scary situation as a business.

If you look at stock in the States (where most of our products come from) and listen to anyone who knows what they're talking about in the business you'll know that you should probably heed their advice.

Or have fun paying someone $0.50 per round for 22lr or $80/lb of powder next year.
