Could I have my barrel shortened from 6" to 4" and a bit and still retain the half underlug and integral front sight? If so who does this type of work?
Gunnar is top notch and so is Barry Jensen of Bits of Pieces in Delta. He has a website as well bitsofpieces.com. He does beautiful work and is very reasonable on price and turnaround.
Cheers

I don't think you can have a handgun barrel shortened right to 4".That would make it prohibited, and even if you are 12.6 , we can't make any more of thoseYou would have to have it shortened to 4.10" to stay legal.

Oops, I guess I gotta read a little closer.Oh well, I guess the only real problem he faces would be retaining the underlug, and getting the front sight back in and looking right.

I shot a 4" M-28 and didn't care for how it balanced, the K frame guns balance much better in 4" trim. It did cure me from getting a 3.5" M-27. The N frame in 5" is very nice.
I have all three lengths, in both barrel tapers. 5" tapered or 4" bull works best for me, although I still have a soft spot for the N frame snubbies. Your mileage may vary. - dan
I agree with you on the N frame snubbies Dan.Over the years I haven't put all that many rounds through my 3" 629, but every time I squeeze off a round , it makes me grin.
