Shorten PAL Approval Times

Just rung them today and they told me my application was entered on the 3rd July (received 30th May).

However it is still not appearing on the new rcmp website or on the link for the old site.

I asked how long before I could expect my interview and was told 1-2 weeks as they were concentrating on just putting the basic details onto the computer to deal with all the back log and be able to tell the applicant they had received your paperwork.

Well there it is, boys and girls. Jan 28 to July 5. ONE-HUNDRED and FIFTY-EIGHT DAYS. Add two weeks for printing and delivery and we have ONE-HUNDRED and SEVENTY-TWO DAYS!!!

Phoned and was able to do my interview today, had my references call in and complete it as well. My license is now showing as issued on the tracker!

So my experience to upgrade from PAL to RPAL in Ontario was as follows:

CRFSC Challenge on March 24.
Stamped results received May 7.
Application mailed on May 13, arrived/received on May 16.
Showed up online on June 18, tried to call to do interview and was told to phone back. Phoned back June 27 as well as July 4 and was told another week both times.
Interviews completed July 5, license issued.

So my PAL appeared online May 5th, and so far its still at the Ontario CFO. Does anyone know, if I call in to tell them that my address will change in 3 weeks, if the processing time will take even longer? I'm hoping it completes an gets sent before I move... -_-

Yea, just looked online and my application was received DEC 7,2012.... still seeing the "completed initial processing, is now in progress" yea guys... 211 days and counting...

Why do you think I've been saying to do that for years.... nvm the license.. the STINK caused is what matters in the end...
I've only been here since December, so I wasn't aware you've been saying it for years.

Nevermind the license!?! Are you insane? That's what I was after!

I kid, I kid. I know it's important to raise a stink about this crap. That's why I did what I did. I think it's more than most do.

All the best!

thanks dude, i looked over that thread and got some solid ideas. I just think its BS, i have no criminal record, no history, no financial issues with the gov... just want to be able to hunt deer with my pops and buy a couple hand guns for the range.

I feel for you. It's absolute BS. I met with the AB CFO yesterday for 35 minutes. It (he) was actually really pleasant, and he was nice. He did talk about how they're swamped with applications and they have 27 positions in the office but only 13 are filled because of lack of funding - explained that they're down to $20 million from $103 7 years ago, etc. I can't say whether any of it's true or not, and I don't really care WHY as a taxpayer - I just expect reasonable service. What I will say is someone lit a fire under their asses for me and it seemed to help. If you need help with writing a letter or something, PM me.

I will say that for it to take 211 days and need manual review from the CFO, there IS something that raised a flag. It is likely nothing or just a small misunderstanding, but I'd put money that there's something they saw and need to look at. It was that way for me - it was small issue caused by the ex, and talking with him yesterday removed all doubt.

Anyone know for sure when they print and mail out PAL cards? I've read from some people on here that it's Thursday and then others say Friday.

The lack of funding is intentional as well as most CFO's wanting it that way since that helps their agenda and frustrates "us".. so yes raising hell about it is a good thing and esp to help abolish this farce once and for all.

Yea there never seems to be money for any gov run programs any more but have anyone's tax's gone down? Any way... does any one have other suggestions as to a solid course of action for myself?

212 days.... n waiting....

As has been said many times before... complain to the ombudsman, all the MPP and MP's as well as the press and directly to VT and the PM.. make it very very PUBLIC which is what they do not want.

I don't know if that's true or not but for what it's worth mine first showed issued on the web on a Saturday morning, and I received it in the mail the following Friday. That seemed pretty typical when I was following this thread....usually about a week from issued to in your mailbox.

54 days to show up online. Called last week 'was in initial scanning, received but not online'. CC charged. Should I give a week or a day before I call in trying to do an interview?
