Shorten PAL Approval Times

Dec22 passed safety course
Dec29 received by mirimichi
Phoned a bunch of times throughout the month
Jan 28 my buddy phoned in my reference
Jan 29 said it had been issued
Feb 4. Still waiting anxiously lol

That's awesome... My application was received Dec 18, got passed to the MB CFO Jan 23. As of yesterday it's till sitting in a pile untouched. =P I was simply told to check back next week and they're allowed 30 days to process.......

They received my stuff Dec 5th, wasn't online until the first week of Jan.
Decided i'd give them some time and finally got around to calling today. Was not on hold at all, got through on the 2nd ring...lucky me!
They mailed out my letters at the end of Jan I guess but I haven't received them yet so I did my interview today, was very straight forward and i'll have my references do there's this week. Should be good to go after that!

Came home from work to find that sweet sweet RCMP envelope waiting for me in the mailbox. Definitely the best birthday present I could have gotten today! :D
Submitted December 22nd -> PAL/RPAL in hand Feb 5th.

Biggest timesaver by FAR was being proactive about calling in and having my 2 references do the same. Probably shaved a good couple of weeks off the whole process. thanks for the advice CGN!

I have Had FAC PAL since 2000. Decide to take the course and get an RPAL a while ago . Sept 20 finished course . sept 28 they recieved application . oct 28 , charged CC. checked online , Status "prossesing in progress" , called Jan 14 to see what progress/holdup was . They said they will mail out card in a couple weeks. Feb 3rd , I find in the mail they sent me another PAL card in my name with differant number on it!! Called back today , They said a computer error was made and to mail back PAL card . they claim they are going to fast track my application!

December 8th - Mailed my paperwork
December 12 - My request was opened (appeared online only sometime in the first week on January)
January 8th - CC was charged 80$
January 24th - Called Miramichi : been told it was sent to CFO in Quebec and still in progress
January 31st - Called Miramichi : been told since it's a R-PAL, it's no longer 45 days, but 60 days, request still in progress at my Province CFO
January 31st - Called Quebec CFO : Been told that it's still within the 45 days and everything is normal (even though it was 51 days at that point) and to wait for a phone call "soon".
-
February 3rd : Called Quebec CFO : Told them i was calling them back for my interview, then i've been told that it was not the time yet, that they were "treating a lot of requests, more than usual", that everything was still in order and to wait 2-3 weeks for them to call me, or to try and call back in 3 weeks if i haven't heard anything yet from them.

February 6th : exact same : Called Quebec CFO : Told them i was calling them back for my interview, then i've been told that it was not the time yet, that they were "treating a lot of requests, more than usual", that everything was still in order and to wait 2-4 weeks for them to call me, or to try and call back in 3 weeks if i haven't heard anything yet from them.

Question for "QUEBEC people.. what number did you call for interviews ? I call the general number but every time they ask for a name or extension number ?? any idea ? PLEASE ?? It pisses me off that some people sent their R-Pal request 2 weeks after me and already got their card.. is Quebec slower than other provinces or am i not doing something i should do ??? please ??

514-598-4584, don't call until you hit the 75-80 days mark it's pointless. Everything takes 3x the time in QC, I'm at 100 days both interviews done and the application is still "in progress" I called like 12 times.

That's a fast turn around. How soon did you call after you got confirmation that your app was delivered by Canada post? And what did you say to get them to check for your application? I just called about mine and they said to call back in three weeks.....

Here's my timeline for getting a PAL/RPAL...

Application received at Miramichi Nov. 25, 2013.
Credit card charged Dec. 10, 2013.
Wife gets called on Jan. 27, 2014 and does her interview.
My references and I receive a letter to call in on Feb. 4, 2014. I called in that day along with one of my other references.
Checked online today Feb. 6, 2014 and it said my license has been issued and it should take 2 weeks for it to show up. I do my happy dance!

I just got approved,

received in NB on october 25, so that's 105 days for QC. It's terrible..

Wow ... congrats ! Mine was received Dec. 12th, that's 48 days after they received yours, so i can expect to get an update in about .... forever ! You were right in your previous message, it does take forever in QC, and it actually IS completely pointless to try and call to speed things up, i just give up, it'll g et there when it will get there, i guess that's the most i can do. What sucks is that i already bought my firearm (at Dante, in Montreal) since it was the last one of that kind everywhere i checked. Now it's just sitting there in their safe. Ohh well... vive le quebec.

My timeline:
- Dec. 29 passed safety course (RPAL)
- Dec. 31 application sent with registered mail
- Jan. 6 application received
- Jan. 28 application showed up online as in progress (checked everyday, didn't see it as "processing")
- Jan. 30 called in (extension 2533) to do interview (didn't read about how they are only doing one reference per applicant), told to get one of references call in (my choice which one)
- Jan. 30 reference called in

My 28th day will be on Monday, February 3, hopefully it will be issued by then :runaway:

PS. They recently updated the website for checking the status, much much better.

My time line is very close to the same as yours but mine is with the CFO as of yesterday.

GOT my RPAL and it is almost 7months!
the require me my permanent resident card
frustration while waiting are now gone!!

i call them 2 times a week. they always say the same thing

NOW i will apply my ATT before i buy my restricted firearm ;);):D:D

Checked online my application was recieved november 28, still no word. I called back and they just told me its in process woth the province and to call back another day, i've called 3 times so far no word -_-
