Shorten PAL Approval Times

Received my pal today, took just over 2 months. No snags in the processing stages and everything moved smoothly.
was called by rcmp at first stage of processing then everything moved along up until now.
only point I stressed a little was during the mailing stage as it took a week and 3 days

Its been 20 days since it was received. Hoping it will appear online soon. Is it worth me calling to check or does that not help anymore?

Until it shows up on-line I don't think there is any point calling, the guy on the other end of the call will ask you for your details and check his computer to see if you're application is on-line. If it's not on-line after 6 weeks of their receiving it I'd call and try to get them to do a more detailed investigation as to why your application seems to be missing.

That's what i did after 4 weeks Sloooooooooow peoples lol

I sent my application out June 16, and they received it on the 23rd. It took until July 18th for it to show up online. It's now in progress and has been sent off to the bc CFO. Any idea how long it will take from here? I also asked to so my interview and they informed me that they no longer do interviews for non restricted, unless there is an issue.

See above, my reference did his phone interview on a Thursday (RPAL application) and my license was issued the next day (Friday). Unless you have some "criminal history" that has to be looked into, the BC CFO shouldn't take very long to approve it. That said I might have just lucked out and the CFO goes through the pile every third Friday or something...

Keep checking on line, as soon as you're approved your application status will change and it will show you your PAL number.

If people would read....Anything.... You'd know that there is a 28 day waiting period for first time applications.

I already have my PAL and mailed my RPAL papers on July 4th, had to call to know if they received it after 4 weeks nothing showed up just the PAL they approved since Nov 2013

Is there any way to check if my references missed the call, I assume they could tell me that if I call the number right?

Just getting my PAL btw

They don't usually call refs for a regular PAL mine didn't, and heard from a good source that they pick one out of 5 to call if you're lucky you're not that one ;)
Just check the site periodically it will tell you license issued sooner or later

Check out my timeline...

Exactly 28 days from receipt to be approved for PAL & RPAL.

June 21st and 22nd: Took PAL & RPAL course

June 24th: Sent application in via Express Post (guarantee 3 day delivery for June 27th).

June 30th: Late arrival.

June 30th-July24th 6am: Tried to sign into the government website to check the status of my application. Error error error. Just not in the system yet.

July 24th 7am: “Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.”

***NOTE: It shows received on July 2nd, 2014. Thanks Canada Post & Government workers. As if this process isn’t long enough.

I called them up at 9:05am to check if anything was missing. No, there was not. They informed me that my photo is being scanned and they only need one reference check (The provincial CFO might want when it gets there). They told me to have the reference of my choice call in with my application number. Done and done!

12PM: One reference called in and completed the interview (happens to be a man in law enforcement… don’t know if that helps or not).

July 24th: Credit Card Charged $80 “RCMP/GRC 1-800-731-400 MIRAMICHI NB”

July 30: Your application has been processed and your license has been issued.

No second reference, no interview with myself. Now waiting for the snail to move and get to my door! :)

I am quite impressed with that timeline!
