Shorten PAL Approval Times

I'll put in my timeline as well i guess:

Dec 12 Took Course
Dec 17 Mailed in application without exam result
Jan 16 Showed up online
Jan 23 Received exam results
Jan 27 Faxed exam results

As of Monday they are still not ready for my references to call in, I have been calling twice a week on Monday and Thursdays.

Update: Called them just now, apparently I missed a question on the application, didn't check off one of the boxes so they sent out a notice today. I will have to wait for it in the mail, fill out the form and mail it back to them.

Licence: PAL/RPAL
Province: Ontario

Update: My reference received the call yesterday morning at 9:00 am, by the time I checked at 11:00 am it was already "issued and mailed"

Updated time line:
Dec 12 Took Course
Dec 17 Mailed in application without exam result
Jan 16 Showed up online
Jan 23 Received exam results
Jan 27 Faxed exam results
Feb 25 Received update notice, mailed back updated forms
Mar 23 Reference received call, Licence issued within 2 hours
Total Time Elapsed: 93 Days

I was contemplating whether or not I should give them a call and see if they are ready for my references to call in, but it looks like they called my reference before I even did that!

Also, it's worth mentioning that only one of my reference got called, and I never received any phone calls my self.

To everyone else: Hang in there! Hopefully you will get your licence soon!

Same here they only talked with one reference, even though I was told during my course that they usually talk with both AND your partner/wife if they live with you and you put there info on the form.

I was told the exact same, that if you apply for RPAL they will call both references, you (the applicant), and spouse/partner.

Guess that isn't true.

Just a final update on my progress.

44 days to approve application
62 days in total from day I sent application to day I received license

Called in today, my references called last week, was told my photo is just awaiting scanning but apparently photo scanning is really far behind but i'm told this is the last step.

I have a range course on the 11th - and I need to have it in hand by then, i'm REALLY hoping that it shows up in time other wise i'm months till the next course.

Done PAL and RPAL courses in January, filled in forms and sent off including course results.
Received on February 4th according to tracking number
Called them mid-February, then showed up online 2 days later as received on Feb 9th.
Called again March 18th, told to ask one reference to call in which was done the same day.
Status online changed today, license issued and should be received within 2 weeks.
Total 43 days from date received to date issued.

I also have to get a criminal record check every 2 years related to my work and also always have to provide fingerprints because some pedophile/criminal shares my birthday etc, but it did not seem to affect the processing time.

In total I called them twice.

PAL/RPAL, Ottawa, Sent application without test results from CFO
43 Days from received to issued

Date received by CFC - Feb 2
Online & payment taken- Feb 23
Results faxed: Mar 3
Status changed to 'in process': Mar 7
References called in: Mar 10
Issued: Mar 17

Received in the mail, yesterday.
I was told on the phone that they are printed on Thursdays and mailed on Fridays, so 3 business days from Miramichi to Ottawa.

Just a question....I already had my PAL and just took the restricted course. I'm assuming I will still have the same firearms licence # but the new card will have the restricted conditions on the back of it now? I have the 12(6) for a prohibited on my PAL already that was grandfathered.

I checked today and my license has been issued.
Total days from arrival at miramichi to being issued: 44 days

CFSC test passed: Jan 24 2015
PAL application mailed in to Miramichi (registered mail) with test results: Jan 26
Arrived at Miramichi: Feb 2
Application online and in progress: Feb 23
Application issued: March 18
Now its time to go get my SKS.

Just checked the mail today and its here! Im surprised it only took a week for it to be mailed to me but im not complaining. 51 days from my application getting to miramichi. Good luck to those still waiting, its the hardest part!

Yes, your number remains the same. I went through the same thing and when I called them last week they confirmed it and said all the numbers are the same (the important numbers before the decimal) and that the only numbers that change are after the decimal on your card. I hope that makes sense to you.

Yup I know what you mean! Thought thats how it worked, thanks!
