Shorten PAL Approval Times

Received my rpal in the mail yesterday, so 42 days total.
Went to pick up my first rifle yesterday but all the stores were sold out of the one I was after.
Had to order it from a sponsored dealer.
Wanted a Henry lever 22lr for plinking. I did manage to pick up 4 bulk boxes (555 round a box) of 22lr.
Not the best brand ammo but it was cheap $25.

This thread was helpful in squiring my PAL! I just wanted to add some recent experiences.

For me and my wife, applying for non restricted, it took 35 days from the date they recieved the application.
No one was called for an interview,
we both missed the box about other spouses in the last 2 years ( we have been married for 7 so it didn't seem to apply)
The rcmp website showed up as requires additional info so we called in. ( I was checking it every day)
After we answered no we didn't have 2 spouses at the same time they approved us on the spot and it arrived in the mail in under a week!

Hello Everyone!
I am sorry if it is wrong place to ask but:
I have studied gun safety by my self and then I just went to instructor and passed safety test on Sep 05, 2015 (theory and practice, instructor gave me some (RCMP) test passed paper.) , I did not have courses at all . I have sent my application (non-rest) approx 3 weeks ago (start of September) (not answer yet, even online).
Today my friend said to me that by you law (became in force in July or June 15, 2015) before pass any test you most have courses, that happening now with my application?

Thank You!
D. Hudson.

P.s. My province North SK.

When did you challenge? June 18th was the last day possible. If you challenged prior, your application will go through without a problem.

Thanks for answer,

I have passed my test on Sep 05 , 2015. and sent application on Sep 11, 2015.

My instructor didn't tell me nothing , he just examined me ( i got 92% writing pass and 100% practical pass test)

That's odd, you shouldn't have been allowed to challenge. I did the PAL course and challenged the RPAL the last week available. On the form you get that proves you passed there is a check box. Don't have it in front of me, but I remember there being a box checked for challanged. If that box is checked I'd imagine you'll be told you need to take the course. If the other box, something like course completed, is checked instead, it'll probably go through but the instructor is breaking the law.

Best of luck and congrats on your scores, I hope that they count for you.

Thank You!
I have not form too, but I am sure it was box that I have passed test and it was some box about courses hours or something like that, and it was for sure empty...
Probably the best way is wait for RCMP response next few weeks

Oh yeah!!!
My RPAL application was received on August 21.
Made one phone call two weeks ago and asked if my application was missing anything. Was told to call back in a couple weeks.
Just looked online and said my application was approved and sent out today.
No phone call for myself or either of my references.
Wohoo can't wait now

I have phoned RCMP and friendly lady said - "Now , we are putting your picture into application" something like that...and also she said something about we sent application to your province (SK) or we will send it (had bad cell network cover , couldn't hear good )

Is anybody knows what that mean?

Thanks ,

For Ontario Non-Restricted PAL

CFSC taken July 26th
Rec'd Results: Aug 27th (because CanadaPost has no idea how to read an address properly...)
App Sent: Aug 28 Xpresspost
Signed Rec'd by RCMP: Aug 31st
Shows Up online with correct rec'd date: Sept 17th

Moving faster than I anticipated. And now we wait...

UPDATE:
Well things have slowed down.

Credit Card charged - Sept 16
Initial Processing Complete - September 29
Called office for status - Advised with the Ont CFO for final processing - No info missing, they are just doing "checks" - October 6

36 days so far... I'm hoping the CFO isn't too backed up...

Just received my rpal today. It was issued on October 1. Lol, I can't believe they just could not wait one more day to have the conditions printed on the licence.
