Started the processes on July the 5th. Send it with Express mail and tracking number. According to Canada post was received on 8th. See when it will be posted online. So the waiting begins. I will keep you updated.

I was told that I have to wait 90 days before even being given the number for the Sask CFO. I'll be at 60 days on the 26th of this month. The system is pretty pathetic. I'd be insisting on getting more info, after waiting since February.

You do not have to wait at all.. that is as usual BS spewed from the CFC / CFOs (other than the mandatory waiting period of course)
I find that different people at the cfc are more helpful than others. One transferred me to the cfo a week after they received my app, because i had a question. No one answered of course. Im going to call again next week. This is my first time applying, and its an RPAL, so im not surprised with the delay.

You will find a lot of variance and those that either do not know the rules and/or make #### up. Best read the facts and KNOW the rules so you do not fall for any of their BS
Well yeah. It says right on the site that an accurately completed application should take 45 days. Mine had nothing missing, and I'll be over that by the time I call next week. I'll be mentioning that. This whole thing has cost me 300 dollars, with the course. So I think I have the right to know why it's being held up. I'm going to be a pain in the butt about it haha.

Sad but actually necessary in most cases.. remember the CFC and CFOs are NOT our friends. Be polite but firm and do not buy their BS
So I got a letter saying my credit card had been declined. I called them as the letter said to, and paid over the phone. The person on the phone then looked at my application and said I needed to send proof of CFSC completion in. I told her I had already mailed it the week prior.
She then said that it would take 4-6 WEEKS to appear in their system once it arrived.
Is this normal? Or just a poorly informed employee?

Sadly it's "normal" But you should have faxed the CFSC papers in instead of mailing them. Much faster and they get connected to your application faster as well
July 14 Website now says "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)"
Called in again today. They've had my app for 51 days. It's in the black hole that is the CFO office, has been for two weeks.. Apparently they are backlogged. I'm just going to forget about it, and hope it shows up in the mail, some time before i die of old age.

On June 16th, I was told application will go to BC CFO for background check and that I'll have to wait for a month !
Called again on day 50: "You have to wait for two more weeks !"
I wonder if BC and Sask have such a significant backlog !!

Hey guys is there any other way to check besides the CG key when i log in and hit return (cause there's no license check on that page)it says the system is down for repairs been saying that for a week
Only other way is to call. Its down for me too. Has been for a few days
BC seems to be getting unpredictable. On one hand, I see some people geting their first RPAL/RPAL within 30-40 days. On the other hand, there's people who have PAL's about to expire that have been waiting since early April.
I'm at 53 days since my renewal showed up online, but I still have some time before it becomes a concern. Heard from another guy who has been in the system since early April and has 12 days until expiration... still no license issued and they just said he needs to wait. In his case, since it takes a couple weeks after approval for the license to get printed and mailed, it is doubtful that he'll get it on time unless maybe they rush the license out and send it Express Post.
Seems kind of silly... comparble to the bank refusing to acknowledge your mortgage payment and sending a letter saying they can repossess your house. Never heard of anyone getting charged for unlawful possession because of renewal delays, but some folks have received letters saying they are in unlawful posession. Doubt any unlawful possession charge would hold up in court, but as the saying goes, the process is the punishment.
