Shorten PAL Approval Times

normal not for work. send in my app on July 08. 2014. Was online on day 21. my reference called in on day 23 and today is day 28 the end of the mandatory waiting period. This morning the app status change to: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000) I don't know what to tell you. I do however work in law enforcement. Sorry that I cannot be of more help.

That says it all right there

Mine was also 28 days and I do NOT work in law enforcement; however, I did have a reference of someone who is in law enforcement.... starting to see a pattern here. Know someone who is in law enforcement? Get them as a reference!

Mine was 31 days and I probably could have shaved two or three days off of that by calling sooner once the application was in progress and I'm not a LEO and neither are my references.

I am a middle aged guy with no criminal record and not so much as a traffic violation in the last 30 years, I got 100/100, 100/100 on the tests, and my application was complete. I don't know if any of that has an effect or not.

I talked to the bc CFO today. They received my application from the CFP on July 22nd. They told me today since they have only had it for a couple of weeks, it will be at least another 30 days before they get around to looking at it. It's been 45 days today since the CFP had received my application. They received it June 23rd. I don't have a criminal record and also aced both tests. I hear of people on here who sent out their applications a week or two after mine and already have their pal. Hoping it moves along so I get it for deer season.

they said the same thing when i called after it hit the bc cfo desk, , give it a week, and call the cfo back, very politley explain that a few people you know got thiers already , blah blah blah... and just politely enquire if yours needs anything else, , when i asked she put me on hold came back and said she had approved it, 6 business days later it was at my house :)

I am sorry you see it this way but I am sure more guys get there in 28 days who do not work in law enforcement or have law enforcement references.

Sorry but based on years of experience with this and other aspects of the farce we have to deal with you are very very wrong on that one. Getting one that fast is virtually unheard of unless it's for employment and even then many do not get it that fast.

PAL or RPAL? Makes a big difference

I tried that. They said every application is different. I've phoned the bc CFO twice in the last two weeks and r was the same answer each time. Likely won't be looked at until the end of august. If I don't hear anything back by September to call in again. I plan on ohoning every Wednesday and checking up.

I am also sorry that you didn't see it yet. Far from my wishes to turn this into a bashing thread, but it's well known all over not just in Canada. Without going into details, there's 2 different sets of laws/ privileges.

Then you have to explain away all the people getting theirs fast. Mine took 36 days from receipt to issued, if I'd called a day or two earlier I could have had that down to 34 or 35. It just depends on the application, who processes it and how much you keep on it.

That can be a very big factor. However even with keeping on it daily the evidence supports there being an internal two tier system of sorts.
