Shorten PAL Approval Times

Unknown303. When did you submit your application ? Trying to see the time line form application submission to license issue. My showed online on Dec 29, 2014.

my references were called last Wednesday. I called in today to see what's happening and I was told I'm probably a week away from having my picture scanned and then sent to the ontario cfo, who will appearently have it for a long time according to the woman on the phone. Day 62 ugh

Reading here it sounds like the Ontario CFO is not that bad. I am patiently waiting until Mar 2. The guy said to call them then so I will.

Patiently waiting is all we can all do right now...speeding up PAL times isnt as possible as when this thread was created with best intentions.

Situation has changed and they are aware of the speedup tactics lol

I don't think it is something they are actively doing to slow down, I believe them that there is a backlog. And it sounds like it all started about a month after the War Memorial Shooting. Personally I had been looking into doing it but had been procrastinating on studying. When it happened, it gave me the kick in the pants to get onto it.

I can understand a back log but telling me today that they need 7 more days from last Wednesday (that's 14days) to scan a picture? That seems a little unreasonable to me.

on day 80 for just PAL. Phone calls not helping at all.!!! better not to bother with calls so they might have some extra time to process your applications!!

It's not about scanning your picture. Big picture, they have a million things to do BEFORE they scan your picture.

I think the system needs a lot of work, and there shouldn't be a backlog, but just because the thing you need done is quick doesn't make it top of the to do list.

92.3% my arse......lol. Not unless the rest of Canada is applying and we are the select ones in the 7.7% that are getting bent over the counter.

She literally said ALL that is left to do is scan my pic and send it to cfo. My refrences did the interview, my app was processed all they need to do is scan a pic and send it. I understand there is a process but it's frustrating watching people defend the process and even more frustrating to see so much apathy, people laughing because someone is "only" on day 80 and they've been waiting x amount of days. Maybe if more people complained they would get more staff or pushed harder to meet their 45 day goal.

NASA had a saying: Faster, Cheaper, Reliable you can only have two.

You going to pay more taxes to fund the extra manpower or budget to revamp the system? Guarantee you a lot of people wouldn't. Money has to come from somewhere.
We are all in the same boat, it would be nice to have it happen right away but compared to 10 years ago it is a lot faster than it was before. 6 months for a PAL was the norm.
