Shorten PAL Approval Times

Yes, if they have confirmed they are ready for your references, have your references call otherwise you wait until they get around to calling. So if they haven't told you call and ask. Probably about 3 weeks back you could have had them call

One reference called in just now and completed the interview. Time to get the other one to do the same.

Should my wife call in too, or do they only want the references?

They only need one reference. I don't think your wife needs to call since she signed the forms (right?). I think they will send her mail though to contact them if there are any issues. Give it until tomorrow and call them back and confirm if there is anything else they need. At this point you should be at the scanning in picture and sent to CFO. Seems to be around 2 weeks or so for Ontario but there are exceptions.

Now that RPAL is in hand I will do a full account.

Application arrived in Miramichi on Dec 4 without test results
The application came online Jan 8. Results faxed same day.
Reference were able to call Feb 4
Approved Feb 9
In hand Feb 17.

I had Christmas / New Years to slow it down. But from RCMP hands to mine was 75 days.

BOOM.

I guess getting your reference to call in really does work.

Now, can I call and get my PAL number? Once I do, am I legal to possess, even before I get the card in the mail? I have a friend that bought an SKS rifle for me and is hanging onto it. Would be nice to take it home.

I don't think they will give you it over the phone. Feel free to try and if they I will call :)

Got called today by the CFO. approved!!!

Rpal is in the mail. They said two weeks

I was on here yesterday after I called and they said 14 days to scan my photo. I called back and quoted their services standards and that it says I have the right to know why they exceeded those standards. Two days later approved!!

Here's my timeline
Early Dec - Took CRFSC
Mid Dec - Sent application without rubber stamped certificates (Ontario)
Dec 18 - App received
Early Jan - received rubber stamper CFSC/CRFSC certificates and faxed them in
Feb 11 - called weekly until this week when I called daily and my reference called in today.
Feb 18 - lisence issued

I can't speak to the legality of possession of that rifle but you can call and get your licence #, I did this last week so I could purchase my range membership and begin the transfer of my two pistols from the store to me.

Knowing that others are experiencing the joys of an RPAL and that they say that all good things take time. I'm not sure my bank account will be able to handle the damage that I will be doing to it in future as it has already taken a huge hit with all the accessories that I have been buying already without a RPAL.

They gave me the number, no expiry date. She explicitly said I'm not to use it or do anything without the card in hand, though.

I remember my instructor saying otherwise, but better safe than sorry.

Same here. Signed up for range membership today.

He lives right around the corner anyway, so the SKS can stay in his safe until I get my card.

I got approved today and called in and asked for my PAL number saying I wanted to use it to start a transfer on a restricted and they said no prob and gave it to me with my expiry...

Also, I ordered my AR today and the guy took my number to see if it was in his system and confirmed I was good to go...Then I ordered an SKS from another company with no issues, now I'm shopping for a pistol, I'm in heaven
