Not sure about the renewal side of things, but I'm applying for PAL/RPAL at the moment (from BC). Reference called in on March 2nd and I'm still waiting on any status change. Talked to them last week and was told they were waiting to scan my picture and to call back yesterday (Monday). I did that and ended up talking to the most sour CFC employee I've spoken to. She said it's still scanning. Obviously with Easter break and the server downtime they are behind on things. Totally understandable, but it doesnt make the wait any easier!

So When I finally received my RPAL after a 4 month wait, I went out and purchased some restricted firearms. After waiting 3 weeks for the registration certificates to arrive I called the CFP to inquire. Mailed out March 19th. Must have been lost in the mail. So I've had these firearms in my possession for nearly a month, I have an ATT but still no able to go and shoot my firearms!! I'm not sure what I've done to piss off the firearm gods, but someone out there is making sure that I have patience on top of my patience!! Unbelievable.

Damn. Mine was received on March 2nd as well. Reference called in on April 2nd. Still "processing". Don't know how long it takes them to scan a damned picture. I've been checking online every day since my reference called in, but at this point I just assume the status will still be "completed initial processing"...I'm getting sick of seeing that message! :)

Reference called in yesterday, Approved today and expected to arrive in the mail within 3 weeks from what the lady told me.

PAL and RPAL? I called in Monday after the CFO told me to check back, but am debating if I should give them another call this afternoon. I think nearly 2 weeks to scan a picture is a bit excessive.

Pal Renewal and RPal application.

I called them once a week since i submitted lol
call call again lol

Just called again. Spoke to a nice lady. Told her I was told that my picture was still scanning despite reference interview being conducted almost 2 weeks ago. She checked my application and said "Weird...everything is in here...picture is here...all your information is good...what is going on?". She then sent it off to the CFO and told me to check back in a week.

BC Rod and Gun show is this weekend. Was REALLY hoping I could at least get my license number before then.

Unrelated question for everyone:
If I went to the show with my buddy (PAL/RPAL holder) could he buy a gun for me and hold it until my license arrives? Don't want to screw around if that isn't kosher.

**EDIT**: Just checked online (less than 20 minutes after talking to them). STATUS IS NOW ISSUED!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

For an unrestricted weapon sure aslong as he holds it until you get the card, for restricted, not sure, but I know it would cause headaches.

Definitely would only be NR. I wouldn't bother with restricted at the moment.

License just got issued. Do I need card in hand to purchase, or would the license number suffice? I assume I need card in hand, but at least I know it's coming soon!

Card in hand for in-store purchases (most cases). License number and expiry date for online purchases.
