Shorten PAL Approval Times

Got a hunch it won't be long until you get the magic "licence issued" message (but I base that on nothing)... Maybe it's a bit easier after you've already been issued a license (even though you let it lapse?) I don't know and can't see any rhyme or reason as to how these things can either go through in 45 days or sometimes take months. Gotta think they'd save themselves from answering the phone a thousand times a day if their internet system had more detail than simply "we've received it" and "it's been issued".

Or better yet, if they'd pound them out in their "service standard" of 45 days. Seems like ample time to do what they need to do.

Well if memory serves I believe they process 30,000 applications a month. With background checks, references, interviews, photo scanning, provincial CFO's. I can see it easily getting back logged.

Hi everyone, I've been randomly lurking on this forum for years lol.
My dad and I took the test on the same day, sent it in the same envelope, his is online but mine isn't :( (I've been checking my status for weeks, but I just checked his for the first time today.)
It was received on April 13th. His status is:

Your application has been received. It is currently being processed. You have been, or will be contacted either by phone or by mail for additional information. Please check the status again at a later date.

Is that the usual? He has a criminal record from when he was a teenager, but nothing very serious. Should he call in?

We're in Saskatchewan. Does anyone know about the processing time once it gets to the CFO?

thanks

Yes he should call in. Basically if they find something missing they put the file away and put that message online and send you a slip in the mail until they get the missing info

My Experience with the process

PAL/RPAL new application
Nova Scotia

March 20/21 took PAL/RPAL with my wife
March 24 Mailed applications
March 26 Received Mirimachi
April 16 appear online for my self (Day 21)
April 17 appear online for my wife (Day 22)
May 04 I called in to check status, told to have one reference call in, reference called in same day
May 11 Status changed to issued.
46 days to process
Just waiting on the postman

My wife and I mailed ours at the exact same time, but she chose not to call in as she's in no rush to get her card. Her's is still in progress. So I'm curious to see how much longer hers will take to be issued.
