Shorten PAL Approval Times

Does the old firearms application status website work and if so does anyone have a link? I'm sick of the new one already.

Months later. I said this like 10 pages back, but the best thing I found was to mail it and forget about it
For a few months then make your phone call. I have a slight feeling the more you phone in
The more they'll be tempted to keep turning you back in the opposite direction, that being said easier said than done of course
Just realize that it'll take roughly from what I've been gathering reading this topic about 150-180 days to even have a chance
At having a successful phone call. The first phone call I made was around month 4, I told him if my application has been held up
He said nope just need refrences to phone in, refrences were beside me
And bam approved and issued right there. Be patient everyone! As much as the hype after completing the course I found it
To be somewhat beneificial for the long wait to truly see what I wanted to purchase!

Online: April 29th (Approx)
Licence Issued: June 12th...just waiting for it in the mail!
I called in once after the 28 day waiting period to see where things were and that was it. After that no one interviewed me, and my references were not contacted as far as I know (will edit if they were) Can't wait, birthday is in June, time to buy myself a present!!!

quick question, i tried scrolling back but with 900+ pages it would take awhile, i`m upgrading my PAL to RPAL, is it gonna be the same similar waiting game?, since i already have my pal is there a mandatory waiting period? , and do you have to send in new picture and all that?..or do they just add it to the current one and send a new card?, and yes, i know, shouldve done it at the same time, hindsight on that is 20/20..lol
Yes it's all the same. I just did an upgrade. They treat it as a new application. You need to send in a new photo etc. my wait time in bc was 3 months. Not bad. My original pal was 5 months. Good luck and hope it doesn't take too long for ya.

Told me to call back in a few weeks. No idea why it takes so long for an upgrade, this whole thing is a bureaucratic nightmare. I had to give more info on my passport and that got to me without a problem at all.

I have heard this several times now.. in BC we get our results as soon as we finish the coarse .. why do you guys in ont have to wait I don't get it..
Day 104, just when I was settling in for a longer wait. Call from the Sask CFO and RPAL approved. If I can offer some advice to those waiting, don't get your hopes up for a quick turnaround, settle in for a longish wait. Check in about once a week and when it does get to the CFO for final review, approval can happen any day.
From what I understand it started a while back due to fraud. Something to do with some people not taking the course and given the answers to the test. Not sure why you would need them. It's pretty easy. Not sure how it stops this but the CFO has to approve all test results now. I could be wrong but that's what I was told.
My friend got her results back last week. Took 3 weeks to get them.

yes but we get results at end of test the same day we take it , and send it with application. what I don't get is why you have to wait for test results before you can send your app ?

Apr 13th - Received
May 4th - Appeared online
May 21st - Called to check status. Still in initial processing stage, no further update. (Day 28)
June 5th - Received letter that something was missing
June 8th - Called to given info and approved right away!
June 15th - Little brown envelope is in my grubby little hands!
It took 70 days from date it was mailed until I had it in my hands. I could've shaved a few days off but was delayed in getting back to them right away. This was for PAL application from ontario.

For 3 weeks now after the 28 day wait.Getting references to call-into the CFC is a massive time-saver....
I have been told my refrences cant call in as thhey are not ready for them yet.
Friday I was told it may be from 30-90 days yet before my licence is done.
that is 5 months worst case.
This is an Alberta Upgrade from PAL to RPAL.
I have no criminal record, charges , speeding ticket.
Parking tickets, no drug use.
no booze.

ok, thats what i figured, ahwell, taking the test on thursday and sending it all in friday, took 3 months the first time so hopefully wont be so bad , but i have my rifles to keep me company till then this time..lol
