Shorten PAL Approval Times

Well, I'm glad I am not the only one then.
I sent mine in on June 17th and it hasn't shown up online and my CC hasn't been charged.

I called RCMP today and the lady said it doesn't yet show up in their system and to call back in 2 weeks. She couldn't confirm if they had even received it. For all I know, it got lost in the mail...
I didn't sent it requiring a signature as I had a way to send it express without paying for it (through corporate mailing).

i sent mine via snail mail, and CFC received it 5 days later... Usually it takes about 20-21 days for it to be charged on your CC, than it appears online. Remember though, 28 day waiting period is mandatory, so they probably won't even touch your file then. But you said you sent yours in June 17th, which is over a month ago... So I'm not sure. Hopefully it isn't lost.

Well the website was up for a little bit around 4pm EST, and now its back down. I checked and I my application showed up online today. My application was received by someone at Miramichi on June 30th, so exactly 3 weeks from today. I forgot to check the date they put in that they got the application. So yours should've been up before mine. But I also sent them a money order, which is guaranteed to work, on top of that my instructor told me that money orders go through faster. It did cost me $7.50 to get the money order from my bank, worth the week it shaves off if it is quicker.

Maybe waiting a week and calling in again. Talk to them and ask them if you can send in another application, just in case the other one was lost. But going through this thread, I really havn't heard of anyone having their application lost.

My process

1) 3 week wait for stamped papers from CFO
2) Mail in pal application (late April)
3) Application entered into application system (June 1)
4) Called June 5 asking if ready for refs I was told that they were 5 weeks behind and to call back in 3-4 weeks
5) Called June 26th and was told that they were ready for my refs (they only need one to call now)
6) My reference called that day and my license was issued that day (Friday)
7) Got my physical card on July 7 (in the mean time I was able to purchase the 1911 I had on layaway by calling them and getting my PAL number and my ATT came in the same day as my card arrived)

Today is July 22 and I own 4 guns... I have a problem

Wow. So, it showed up online this morning. For some reason it took them forever to receive it. I did send it on June 17th, check out the received date:

Application Received on: 2015/06/30

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

In any event, I am glad that it wasn't lost in the mail.

My PAL application received in Miramichi on May 19, 2015, CC charged on June 8, and last couple of weeks it is in CFO office waiting for approval according to representatives,
they also said that 45 days for processing starting after 28 days of waiting, and that there is no time frame for CFO to approve. Asked me to call them back at the end of August.
I've asked them to transfer me to CFO 2 times and got an answer that CFO will tell you same info so there is no reason to transfer.

Hold your horses. Don't want to upset the Mounties.

Don't worry I am always polite and respectful.
The interesting thing is that representative says that CFO will review my application according to a queue of files they have on the table, but I see some applications sent later than mine and already reviewed. Unfortunately no one will explain how this happens and why))

In my case the squeaky wheel got the grease.........

Depends on the province. Ontario has a huge backlog, while somewhere like Manitoba may have guys sitting around waiting for more applications to come in (just an example, though Ontario is backed up).

It's weird that this incorrect explanation (45 days + 28 days) crops up every so often.. right from the website:

Our service standards to process a complete and accurate application are:

45 days, including the 28-day legislated waiting period, for a licence application;
30 days for a registration application.

I asked for my # when they told me it was approved ... somehow missed a number. Called back to find the missing digit and was told they do give them out on the phone. Kinda annoying with the inconsistency.

The long wait is over and victory is mine.
