Shorten PAL Approval Times

my license arrived today but they messed up and in the middle name put an "o" where an "a" was ment to be.....so much for heading too the store tomorrow, now I have to call them and back to the waiting game.
 
Feb. 24th - $80 Withdrawn from my account to RCMP.GRC MIRAMICHI

...Still processing and they don't have my CFSC Cert. yet.

I thought they take the money after they have made a decision? lol.
 
Understand the 80 bucks is to process the request be it approve or denied. This is the gov't. Funny story our RPAL instructor told us of some students mistakenly sending in $140 thinking it's 60 for non-restricted, 80 for restricted. Take one guess if the gov't refunded the $60 overpayment.

a and o, just another vowel. Whoever looks at middle name, gov't didn't notice, doubt the gun shop will. Get all your guns first before you realize the mistake, then ask for the correction.;)

Completed my restricted course last Thursday, and my long gun course 2 weeks before that. Mailing all my stuff out tomorrow. Just wondering, is there any comprehensive list of questions that you and your references will probably get asked? I've seen it talked about in a couple threads where they are kind of rude and try to trick you/your references into saying you would use the firearm for self defense, so they can decline it.

Also, for your first restricted transfer, I hear that takes a long time too. Seems kind of odd it would if they already did an in depth background check when you applied for your RPAL.
 
Well mine was received Feb.7/11 and they took out the money Feb.14/11 but no phone caals yet to me or my references. Whats the shortest way through their automated call center to speak to a real person? Does hitting 0 at the beginning work?

all my references and my self were contacted 12 days after they had received the application.

they don't try any tricky questions but more so about you and how violent of a person you were and they also ask alot of werid/strange questions

i think its, 1, 2, 1

between the last one theres a LONG pre recorded message to get you to hang up, but don't listen to it and press 1 when it asks you if you still want to talk to an agent
 
Try this one. mine has been on hold for over a week because they apparently called my buddy / reference and left a message. I called him and he said he got no message. so now he is calling them back for me on Monday.
The other stupid thing they are only open MON to FRI 9 to 5 my bank is open more than that

They probly didn't leave a message because, your friend's answering machine didn't ID him as the person they needed to speak to.

Any examples of the weird questions? Or is it just crap like "Does he like violent movies?" etc?

Also, when should I go join my local range? Should I go get the membership now so when I'm contacted I'm a member, or just wait until I have a restricted so I can apply for the ATT?

The message they left one of my references said they were available 5am-5pm our time (bc) which is kinda handy when you start work at 6am and are up at 4:30. I guess it depends where you live.

This was my interpretation of the initial post as well.

Mine has been there for a week now (I sent it via registered mail) and it is still not online. I called to "kick things off" as suggested in the initial post and they told me it takes at least 2 weeks (from the time it is received) before it appears online.

Maybe the initial post should be updated to reflect this?

When I called this morning, I hit 1 (English) and then I hit 0 as soon as it started babbling about options. Got right through to a human.
