Shorten PAL Approval Times

I sent off my application by currior on June 23 and nothing is showing up on the website yet. Should I be patient or call in to find out whats going on (I did not send my test results with it as I have not got them yet and didn't want to wait for the postal strike). This is for first time application Non-restricted only.

I believe it says right on the paper work. If your wife signs they will not contact her. I am sure sometimes they do call but mostly if they signed they only call the references.

Just today i got off the phone with the CFC in NB, my application has been confirmed valid and i was told they now have to send it to the CFO in Ontario involved in printing the actual licence then mailed to me. I read it can take up to 2-3 weeks for mailing, is that true?

here's my time-line thus far:

JUNE 05 - PAL/RPAL courses completed
JUNE 08 - app sent in, course results to follow
JUNE 13 - app received at CFP
JUNE 29 - app is now online, app # issued (finally!)

-at this time, when is a good time to be pro-active and call in to do my interview as well as have my references check?

-during a previous call, the CFP agent mentioned the Ontario CFO would send them my course results, should I wait after these have been sent or request to do my interview in the next few days?

you cant do your interview until they receive your paper work. CFO wont sent them your course results, you have to do that yourself when you get them back from the CFO. Im in the same boat as you. Waiting on my results back from teh CFO. I know mine were mailed by teh CFO on June 8th, but have been stuck in postal limbo the whole time. As a reference i took my test first week of May and submitted my application paper work a week later.

are we able to inquire directly to the CFO on the status of course results?

Yup, called them and asked for the status of my test results. told tehy were shipped out June 8th. Aske for a faxed copy (this was during the postal strike) and was told their copies havent been filed yet and are all just sitting in piles waiting to be filed so it would take weeks before they could find it to fax it. So still waiting. Hoping i get the results this week.

OK, just called the Ontario CFO. They've confirmed test results are now in the mail. So, I'm expecting mid or late next week to have them on hand given that there's a stat holiday this week.

I assume their copies have yet to be filed so asking for a faxed copy would be worthless.

The moment YOU get them (make a photocopy for yourself) fax them in to the CFC then mail them to Miramichi.

I just checked the tracking number, it was signed for on June 27th. I'm assuming my 28 days start then regardless of when it shows up online (or should I call them to confirm the process has started)

June 27 will be start of the 28 day waiting period.
You are looking at a period of at least 2 weeks before you seen anything on the online status website.
You can call them - but I believe the agents look at the same thing applicants see since these they ask for your last name and DOB.

just signed in to the link on the front page and saw this "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000) "
Pretty stoked,
:D:D:D:cool:

Nothing you said is true.
The CFC checks the application, your provincial CFO approves it, after approval it is printed and mailed out by the CFC.
The correct information is in the original post and that includes printing and mailing details.

Hey guys!

April 17th I challenged both tests and aced written and practicals
Unfortunately I waited 6 weeks to get my stamped paperwork back (I just found this site last week)
June 3rd I mailed in application
June 20th I had my interview and both references were called minutes after
Today, July 1st, I checked my application online and saw "Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued"

Very happy :)

Thanks Calalta must have heard them wrong, guess thats what you get for working while talkin on the phone at the same time. What i do know is it's in the mail now, yay!.

Got a letter saying i my test results were missing from my application (sent the application in before ontario cfo sent test results out) and i have to submit them by June 9th. What happens if i dont get them in by that date? do they close my application?
Im still waiting on my test results that are stuck in the mail. (were sent out right at the start of the postal strike)

Double check the DUE DATE on the letter you received.

I submitted my application to the RCMP on May 13th and I still have not received my stamped test results from the Ontario CFO. The CFO claims that my test results were already mailed to me but I have not received them yet due to the strike. The RCMP letter states that I have until September 5th to get them my test results. Recheck your due date.

Finally! Both sets of test results arrived in the mail today and I just faxed them to the RCMP. I will call them tomorrow to make sure that they received them, and that they are legible. I will also check to see if I can be transferred for my interview.
