June 25th: Mailed everything out.
July 17th: Info showed online.
July 30th: All references were contacted and phoned in.

Got my RPAL in the mail today.

My first PAL & RPAL application just showed up online :)

July 9th Posted from Whitehorse Yukon.

Application Received on: 2012/07/16

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

Mine was issued at 4pm on a Weds and i had it in the mall box the following Tues. 4 days. And not too many dealers will sell a Restricted firearm without a copy of the Licence.

Thanks for clarification. I should only have spoken from the employment perspective. Much appreciated.

38 buisness days!(average 45 days to complete application, means 45 buisness days mon-fri) from showing online to being approved. this includes 2 weeks on hold to look into my record (CSIS check done) because i hold a above normal security clearance, with some blacked out info on my file. should get license on wed/15/2012, bec i asked CFC for it to be expedited shipped, thay are just going to charge my credit card.

if you can work the system like myself its easy.

:bsFlag:

Ya, right.

Well, mine took 34 days and i didn't have to "work" the system. And my security clearance wouldn't get me into a locked bathroom at Walmart.

how exactly did you "work" the system ? It sounds like you mailed your application in, did your interviews.... and waited just like the rest of us shmucks.

only difference i see is you may get your card faster than most people... because you paid for it. I got my number from the CFO immediately and was able to order a firearm that very day... did i work the system?

Sorry to bust your bubble but I took my course two weeks after you mailed it in and received my rpal two weeks before you and I Didn't pay for expedited mail.

Took course june 16
Mailed application june 17
Received june 21
License issued July 19
Received in the mail July 27
Went to the range July 29.

Only extra I did was call in to do my interview and had my references call in. And the 45 days average is 45 calendar days not working days. Just like the minimum wait time is 28 calendar days(mine took exactly 28 calendar days to issue).

Thanks! I celebrated by picking a cooey 60 haha, hows your bank account liking the new licence? Mines really hating it haha

Bank account is empty. I won't have more until around 2082 :p

Bought cheeper pistol then i planned, but bought over 2000 rounds of ammo for her.:D

Why does your CFO have to approve applications? All it does it slow things down. I called about the status of my application today and was told its with the Yukon CFO for final approval. So I called the Yukon CFO and he is away for 3 weeks. :(

I would phone back and ask (very nicely) if another Officer can look at the application. If the answer is no, ask for the supervisor.

can they do that?

Its what happened to me. My officer assigned to file would have been on annual leave for another 2 weeks.

I just said my assigned officer was on annual leave, and wondered if it was at all possible to have my file looked at by someone else. Each time ended in a transfer to another officer to put it through (sometimes I would get a voicemail, left a message, and waited for a call back). If I didnt receive a callback by the next day, I would repeat the same thing until I got patched through without hitting a voicemail :). The CFO approved it over the phone with me, and I got my PAL # off her at the same time.

I am happy to FINALLY update mine:

Passed silvercore course April 7
mailed (regular post, but from St John's NFLD) april 11
received april 16
showed up online may 4th, "in progress"
called for interview May 14
references called (not called in) May 14
License approved and issued August 9th(!)

131 days in the system, and 95 days after my interviews were done.
Now watch it get lost in the mail :D

So you unerstand what i'm feeling now.
Application Received on: 2012/04/25
Still waiting.
Tip to people applying... maybe it's been stated before but:
If you're applying for your PAL but plan to have a restricted firearm in the next five years, DO NOT SAY SO IN THE APPLICATION
I made that mistake. When I applied for my pal, I had just finsihed my Restricted FSC, so i planned on getting a restricted firearm in the next five years, sure...
I wanted to apply for my PAL first, since that takes little time, and then separately apply for my RPAL.
Well, they automatically assume you are applying for the RPAL if you tick off restricted fireams in the next 5 years. This slowed the hell out of my application, since they didnt have proof of me taking teh restricted FSC and of course, i was 20 dollars short. I falsely assumed they would undestand when they only saw proof of my FSC and 60 dollar fee included.
I called serveral times to see if i could help, even had one of my references call and they told her they cant interview her until they contact me first.
So im still twiddling my thumbs. God bless my neighbor for taking me to the range and clay shooting to keep me from snapping at them.

Did my PAL/R-PAL course June 2 and 3. Got the paperwork back from the CFO in Ontario in 3 weeks. Sent all the paperwork to NB on July 6 which was a week after I received it...kind slacked off myself there ;P RCMP called me Aug 3 and did my interview which might I add the phone call from start to finish was only 5 minutes and when it was done she told me she that everything had gone through I should receive my license in about 2 weeks. In my opinion that was hella fast even with me waiting a week to send it to NB. We'll see when the license actually gets here. So far I gotta give a thanks to the RCMP for their speedy service :D
