Shorten PAL Approval Times

My application was delivered on August 23 as well, but I send (looks like ) all the papers enclosed. It would be interesting to see , if it would be any differents in processing between our approvals. My 28 days start ticking on August 23 :)

got approved yesterday. I called the CFO three times, and they were surprised each time that it had been so long (late may).
10 more days of waiting.

I just checked my online status today and nothing is showing yet, other than my old application from 2000 when I initially applied for POL. I live in new Brunswick and mailed the application 8 days ago. I would have thought they would have received already since it is only about 120 kms away.
I called the help line and they said it could be the building somewheres. I told her I hoped to have it by Oct for hunting season and she said that may not happen because they are back logged right now.

After 105 days my RPAL is in my hands.

May 9: Application sent via registered mail to Mirimichi
May 15: Application received
June 1: Application online and in progress
June 6: Called in to do my interview
June 13: My references called in to do interviews
August 17: Application approved
August 28: Licence in hand

Seems like a long wait between references and approval... My references were finished on day 27, my approval was on day 28, I called the CFO today, my card has been mailed, and I know my PAL/RPAL number already.

Now I'm just waiting, if some one can advice me what should I expect later or when I can call to find out status of my app, I'd appreciate.

Hi everyone, I read that some of you did not even do the interviews before you received the license.

I'm from BC and I'm confused to whether or not an interview is required as our instructor did not mention anything about interviews, and the PAL forms he gave us to submit did not require any reference information.

Did anyone else here just wait it out and your PAL license arrived without any interviews?

Still waiting on it in the mail. Hopefully it's here today (Friday), if not, it'll be some time next week for sure.

It's Here!!! Yay! 5 weeks from arriving in Miramichi to getting the card to my front door!

Shorten New PAL app.

Hi there, applied for PAL/RPAL, application. Info was received to their office on July 27 2012-New applicant. I used the above info to receive the licence in a shorter period of time (thanks), I received my licence in a total of 34 days from when they received my app. I called after all interviews were completed(same day) to insure all information was in order. Also I advised that the annual gun show was in town and needed this to acquire my first hand gun and that a group of friends have also applied so we could all go together.. I also stated that this Gun Show is only in town ONCE A YEAR. The women on the phone from the Canadian Firearms Centre transferred me to the Provincial office where I stated the same thing. The women at the Provincial office put me on hold and came back about 120seconds later and said my file was on her supervisors desk. From that call I received the licence in exactly 6days.
Thank you.....!!!!! I cant wait for the Gun show on Sep 7th.

got it..........finally

RPAL was issued August 2.....August 31 it was in my mailbox.

I called 2 weeks ago and they said wait 6 weeks before complaining.

If you are from BC it looks like we are the red-headed step child in the CFO's eyes.....if you are approved and don't have your license within 2 weeks....take a breath and try to relax...we are judged differently than the rest of the country.

Now I get to apply and wait for my LTATT....6 more weeks probably.

Just gotta smile and shrug at this point.

Im in the Yukon. My RPAL was issued on August 15. I called CFC on Friday 31th August ( 17 days after issue ) to be told my Lic still had not been printed! And to wait another 2 weeks. What a JOKE! Lucky for me I got my PAL in the mail 2 weeks ago. I applied for my RPAL 7 Days after I sent in my PAL application in July. Both my PAL and RPAL was issued without any interviews.

I think it's the whole randomness that gets me. We're both in Vancouver and your timeline is almost identical to mine. CFC received my app on July 3rd, interviews completed on July 26th. It's been sitting at the BC CFO ever since. I call in to check every week or two and it's the same thing "They're really backlogged over there". Gah!!

I got My RPAL in the mail box less than 7 weeks after it appeared online. This even included the time it took for the RCMP to mail me a notice that I had not filled in all the info on my app. Turns out I forgot to put down the house number for one of my refernces.
I can't complain but im glad I called right away with the info they needed because I was able to do my phone interview right then. I also had my references call in within the next couple days. I'm sure that cut some wait time off the process.
I even made it to the range today and put 75 rounds of target loads through the VersaMax and another 75 rounds through my 870 Super Mag pump. First time shooting and it was a total blast. Hope everyone makes out ok with their process.

My app has been on the "CFO's desk" for over a month now. 3 months since it arrived in Miramichi. Does anyone know the number for the Ontario CFO?
This whole ordeal has left me with a bitter taste. As an ex-military member, I shouldn't even require this RPAL in the first place.
