Shorten PAL Approval Times

I think it's the whole randomness that gets me. We're both in Vancouver and your timeline is almost identical to mine. CFC received my app on July 3rd, interviews completed on July 26th. It's been sitting at the BC CFO ever since. I call in to check every week or two and it's the same thing "They're really backlogged over there". Gah!!

hang in there bro....its a real bureaucratic nightmare

what makes me laugh is that we are probably the safest, most law abiding people in the country.....I mean, we HAVE to be in order to have any chance of getting a license......yet we're treated like friggin dirtbags.

Mine took a good 20 days to appear online, so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes another week or so.

I phoned today and asked for my license number, and the CFO seemed happy to give it to me.

Mine was also received on the 23rd and it's not on line yet either. I expect it to show up next week sometime. At least I'm on vacay and can at least go to a beach instead of just waiting around!

My RPAL upgrade application was received 08/16/2012, still hasn't shown up on the CFC inquiry site, just shows my old application status from my PAL application last year.

Wonder what the hold up is? By my count, that's 21 days my application has been in their hands.

my wife was unable to sign as she was out of the country for an extended period of time. after the cfc spoke to her, they added 15 days to my wait time and said it was mandatory. anyone else encounter this?

I have a vague recollection of a policy of waiting enough time for an ex to have a chance to make a safety complaint. But I don't recall ever reading anything in the FA or regulations about it.

My guess is that its just another one of those policies that falls under "any sufficient reason".

If you read the FA act and regulations about the role of the CFO, almost all of it is written in the negative. What I mean is, it is stuff like, "the CFO must deny applications if..." There is a lot of "shall not" and very little "may".

Just my experience:

July 26 - mailed in complete package
July 31 - application received
Aug 20 - appeared online "in process"
Aug 28 - attempted to contact references
Sept 4 - last reference finally called in
Sept 4 - online stautus changed to "license issued"
Sept 5 - called in to asked for license number - denied.

I was told that licenses get printed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I believe there is a line up so im expecting it to be printed next tuesday and mailed out the same week.. And hopefully in my hands late next week or early next next week.

13.07.2012 Both tests where passed
22.07.2012 Package sent to RCMP
25.07.2012 Package received in RCMP
27.07.2012 Stamped test results received
15.08.2012 Application appeared online under "being processed" status
16.08.2012 Stamped results where faxed to RCMP (called in, they did confirm)
21.08.2012 I received a letter that they require extra Photo Guarantor Declaration.
23.08.2012 Letter with updated photo Guarantor form was received in RCMP
30.08.2012 Status of application changed to "in Progress"
30.08.2012 Called in to do my Interview, both references called in as well and successfully passed their interview
05.09.2012 Called to CFO to ask if all info was ok. CFO reviewed and approved my application right a way. License number was provided as well. Can't wait for plastic:)

Mine is showing on the system today, so 22 days counting date of receipt and today until it showed online.

I called today as my still was not showing in the system after nearly three weeks. I sent it on the 20th of August. They said if it was not showing by next Wed to call back as they were still processing applications that had been recieved in the middle of August.

I mailed it in almost a month ago and it's still not online yet, did you include reference info in your app? I don't recall seeing anything about references in the app.

I mailed my PAL app. in on May 29. 2012.
Received in system on June 04. 2012.
online July 09 2012. initial (1st) stage complete.
As of today Saturday Sept. 08. 2012. no change in status.
MONDAY I'm calling my MP this is too long. B.C. CFOs office is just messing with everybody (POWER TRIPPING).
I suggest everyone who has been waiting more than the 45 days that the RCMP website says should be the wait time call their own MP, somebody needs to answer for this ridiculous waiting game.

Welp..heres my timeline

Wrote exams: june 20th passed
Sent to Miramichi: June 25th
Received: June 29th
Appeared online: July 17
reference #1 and Self-interview: July 23
Reference #2 could not use: July 23
Received additional form in mail for replacement reference #2: August 9th
Additional reference form received: August 13
Reference #2 called in: September 7th
Today: September 8th checked and license issued, awaiting in mail

If I didn't mess up the reference part the first time, license more than likely would be in hand first week of August.
