Shorten PAL Approval Times

So my timeline begins boys, as I write this with what could be the biggest smile on my face yet !!!!!!

Current Status: Your application has been received. It is currently being processed. You have been, or will be contacted either by phone or by mail for additional information. Please check the status again at a later date.

Does the have been or will be contacted thing mean I should call ? It's just for a PAL so hoping they will not conduct an interview.
 
My info to date:
Mailed Nov 13
Rec'd in Miramichi Nov 16
On-line Dec 05
Interviews Dec 11

Dec 12 On line status shows:
Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

I called today, Dec 12, to ask if everything was OK and I was told all I had to do was wait for the card...my 28 day wait is over on Dec 13 or 14 depending how they count days. I'll update when the status changes on-line
 
First time applicant here, they received my application on October 31, my second reference was out of the country for a few weeks and just called on the 10th this month. I called yesterday they said it was at the BC CFO. Does anyone know how long it takes from this point? Status still reads that my application completed initial processing. I see other people get approved 15 minutes after second reference contact. Is mine delayed for some reason or just caught up somewhere?

Have you included everything, photo, safety course etc...? Sounds like something is missing, you can call them and they will let you know what is missing otherwise you can probably wait 7-10 days for them to send out the letter and it could be something as simple as a missing info on a line? Better call them tomorrow to save some time

This happened to me. I called back and asked why it had been so long and was transferred to BC CFO (which was actually Alberta). They needed a copy of a document I sent it and the next day license was issued.

Thats awsome the wait is almost over for you! Did you call for your interviews or did they call you?

I called in for my interview from Hawaii so I would not have to wait till I got home next week. Then I emailed my 2 references with the phone, extension and file number for them to call in...but they were both called by the Firearms office before they got a chance to call in...they were both called withing 1/2 hour of my interview (with my calling plan it cost me less than 50 cents to call from Hawaii so was well worth it to move things along). It's the 28 days that's holding me up now.
 
Thats awsome well my 28 days are over as of the 19th or 20th depends on how they count. I will try my luck next monday for the interviews. What is the ext number you used?

I'm in the same situation (RPAL) .. they received my app on October 30th, me+references still waiting for a call. I decided to call them to see what's going on, the second time they transferred me to the CFO (QC) and I asked if I can be interviewed .. REFUSED. Not a pleasant phone call, very sour tone.. as if I'm bothering the person.
I just hope to have it before the xmas but looks like that ain't happening

The number to call is 1-800-731-4000 Extension 2533 and have your reference number ready...good luck. Not sure if they count, day 1 equals one or day 2 equals 1. I'll let you you when my status changes and then you will know.

Nothing will show up on the CFC website until about 20 days after they received your application in the mail.

You should probably call them as this indicates that they are missing information from your application.

I called in to see what it was. The extremely helpful lady on the line told it was because I had answered yes to one of the questions (separation). I asked if I could do it on the phone but she said no. All they need is the story in writing lol I just have to say it was a separation on whatever date. I figured that I would have done my interview right there and then so I'm assuming I won't be getting one. She also said the letter was on it's way today.

You're missing information. It should look like this if they have everything "Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date. "

Probabbly the worst time to send stuff via canada post. I sent mine i believe it was express post cost like 16$ to send a letter but had a tracking number and garanteed 3 day delivery. Also had registered for email notification when letter received. Anyways good luck to you. Lile mentioned it wont show up online for at least 18-20 days but with holidays who knows.

So mine said it was done and if it does not arrive in 2 weeks call etc. But i can call and purchase a firearm with just the number? Im a little bit worried on arrival date due to Christmas.

Nov 12th mailed in
Dec 13th shows up online (Saying missing information)i call in update my address and lets me know to call in next week for interviews
