Shorten SXS barrels....?

As an aside to this posting, how does one tell if your barrels are chromed or not (visually I wonder)...asks the voice of inexperience...

I think most Italian shotgun bores are chrome plated... the easiest way to check is to rub the inside of the choke area with some cold blue. It there is any change of colour, it is not plated... sometimes I rub the area to be tested with some 400 grit paper very lightly first...it cleans the area well.
