Hey CGN,

I have a pile of once fired 3" .410 hulls...I'd like to cut them down to 2.5"...what is the best way to go about this? Any advice?

Thanks,

- J

Find a slip fit piece of EMT or other pipe and cut to correct length to make your shell 2.5 inches - use box cutter. I cut three inch 12 ga down to 2.5 inch with similar technique for reloading with black powder.

I do like the wooden cutters of previous post above though.

Band saw, or drill press with a small circular saw meant for a dremel tool is my preference. I have also made do with a poultry shears.

Thanks for the tips...may try making something of my own...I just want the cuts to be clean/straight. What would be the proper length to cut them too...as I need a little extra for the folding crimp? 2.7"?

Oh okay, thanks!!! Did not know the size is of the shell AFTER its been fired, learn something new everyday!!! :p
