i have a Stoger/IGA 12GA SXS "Coach Gun" with 20 inch barrels and i want to have them shortened to 18.5 inches just to get the full "coach gun look":D how do i go about changeing the registration for the shorter barrels and is it a big deal to have a gunsmith put the bead sight back on further back?

For the hassle of losing the chokes and barrel regulation on a perfectly good coach gun, why not get a cheapie from Tradeex and chop it instead? You could porlly get a few hundred for the Stoeger on EE.

You are legally allowed to cut down a barrel to 457mm, which is about 18 inches.

There is no need to change the registration and it should be no problem for the gunsmith to re-install the bead sight.

You might want to look up the thread about the guy who did that. The gun wouldn't hit bugger all. one barrel shot to the left and the other barrel shot way to the right. For 2 inches it's probably not worth it. Doubles are usually tuned to get them to shoot point of impact, so chop it at your peril. You may be better to buy one of the Norinco's

yep i got a 20inch 20g coach gun and i wouldnt cut it down i dont think its worth it... however i did buy a shotty from trade ex, a 28 inch sxs belgian, paid 100$ shipped and i sawed it down to 18inch and i can now enjoy my beatter sawed off 12g truck gun :)

Buy an Outlaw for around $300 with 12.5" bbl's, and keep your Stoeger in tact. Way cooler sawed off look, and you don't have to mess with yours...plus, you can never have enough guns!

it doesnt have chokes.....

anyway i suppose ill jsut keep it the way it is doesnt seem worth the trouble and it would make it even more useless than it already is:rolleyes:

AFAIK all the standard grade Stoeger coachguns have an IMP/ Modified combo. The Supremes have removables. I could be wrong though. Run a vernier into it and see. Is it possible it's an already chopped sxs? BTW you don't sound too keen on it, you'd have no problem unloading it on EE for a decent price or a trade.
Ahem...

They'd probably ask for the serial number on the hacksaw and send you a certificate for it. What's the blade length in millimeters sir?

Why bother? A double with 20" barrels is already shorter than a pump gun with an 18" barrel.
