Shortening my stock?

i have a mossberg maverick 88 with an 18" barrel. since i'm short (5'6") i find the gun a teeny bit too long. i found if i remove the recoil pad, it shortens the stock by about 1". this make the gun a perfect fit for me. however, it's straight plastic and would hurt like hell to shoot. how do i go about having the short stock and a recoil pad?

Get a Hogue 12" LOP stock.

+1 on the Hogue stock, the only thing I don't like about mine is the recoil pad that it comes with, which is no better than a factory one.
