Shortest AR collapsing stock?

What stock do you have on it now? An old school Colt Fiberlite stock is exactly flush with the receiver extension.

I wouldn’t waste any of my money on NEA. It may be shorter but it adds weight.

I just bought the NEA on EE. It shipped today. If I don't like it I'll resell it.

I haven't assembled the rifle yet. Still gathering parts. I'll build it over Christmas break.

I have the nea ccs on my slr , I really like it but unfortunately it won’t collapse all the way due to the slr s receiver being wider than a standard ar.

You said your stock sticks out past the buffer tube by 3/4”. What stock?

Welp looks like the CCS I just bought isn't going to close fully on the SLR receiver. So I'll be selling that as soon as it arrives. Back to the drawing board. Probably the LWRC micro. (Sad trombone).

Obviously there are lots of stock options if I want to remove the stock every time I put the gun away. Like literally every stock on the market will fit if I take it off :/

The point is to fit in a 35" space without having to break it down or add a cumbersome folder.

Let me try this one more time. As others have already mentioned a Colt CAR stock does not stick out past the buffer tube. Or are you just looking for excuses to buy overpriced and unnecessary accessories?

I'm not on a mission to make any unnecessary purchases. I'm on a mission to make my rifle fit in a 35" space when fully collapsed without having to partially disassemble it, and without adding a costly and impractical folding stock. I don't know what to tell you, guy. At its most collapsed position it sticks out past the edge of the buffer tube by about three quarters of an inch.

I don't know what brand it is. It doesn't have any markings on it. Any other questions?

I’m not trying to say that your stock doesn’t stick out past the buffer tube. I believe you say it will fit in the case if the stock was flush with the end of the buffer tube. It is for that reason that I recommended the Colt CAR fiberlite stock as it is flush with the buffer tube. The Colt Canada stocks are basically identical except for the texture. They’re getting harder to find but they’re out there.

What are the downsides to installing one of these on an AR?

It adds about a half pound to the back end of the rifle, which many find is an improvement to their firearm's overall balance. It will add 1" to the Length of Pull (LOP), however you just extend your stock one less detent to compensate. You cannot fire the rifle with the stock open. Well, you can fire one shot, but then you would be stuck with the Bolt Carrier hanging out the back of the opened rifle....

I believe I saw a video where the shooter tried this, the BCG doesn't extend, it remains in battery and does not move somehow.... so the cycle would be shoot, close stock, manually cycle action, shoot again. (this is blocked from my work PC but I believe it discusses it https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/06/01/evolution-weapon-systems-shoot-ar-law-tactical-folded/)

To the OP, I went the maxim defense PDW stock when I was looking for a short stock for one reason, it had the same manual of arms as normal stocks, those with special BCG's like the NEA or troy change the manual of arms and it is different when dealing with stoppages or opening the action. The battle arms PDW stock is similar to the Maxim, but I didn't like the dommed buffer as I felt it encouraged damage to the upper and lower when you opened the action. How wide is the action on the SLR, I can measure the raqils on the maxim to see if they'll clear your receiver.

Strike Industries makes a buffer tube and "claw" that goes on the end of the buffer tube for maximum shortness.
