A sxs coach is light, handy,and can be taken down easily. A 12 or 20 ga with slugs should discourage a bear at up close and personal ranges. I wouldn't suggest for any distance shooting, but from what I understand it is for campsight security.

Shortest bear gun I'd go with is a 12" Dlask with a 12" LOP Hogue overmolded. I'd definately stick with a fixed stock for bear'n.


Then again... my current bear gun (fabarm martial pro forces 14" ) isn't exactly gigantic either.
