Shortest NR 12 Gauge?

Looking at a short barrel for my 870 or possibly a churchill pump gun with 12" barrel.


What other options for short 12 gauge are guys using? Would love to have a collapsible/foldable stock too so i can stuff it in my pack on day hikes for yogi protection so as not to alarm other hikers.

What's out there?

If you go 12.5" you need to keep the original full buttstock on due to it being under the minimum 26" OAL required...

If you go 14", you can put a raptor head grip on as it will be over the 26" min OAL...

Somone is sure to correct me if I am wrong...

Yes, an 870 with the 4 round magazine can only take a 12.5 or longer. If the OP has a tactical model then I don't think you can go shorter. The location of the ring is the deciding factor.
Edit to add: as mentioned above, the shortest in an 870 would be getting a 14" barrel and swapping out your buttstock for a raptor grip.

Most folders aren’t going to stay legal even at 14” barrel.

A 14" barrel for your 870 and a Raptor grip will give you the shortest non-restricted shotgun ..... just barely above the minimal legal 26" overall length (660 mm).

I am happy with mine (Tac-14) ..... fits into a backpack.

Keep receiver length in mind. A SxS will be about 4" shorter than a pump with the same barrel length.
