Shortest pump non-restricted? (Just curious...read inside)

If you want practicality, smooth action and fast reloading while still holding a non-restricted status go with the Valtro PM5.
Practical because of the following –
The barrel is just over 12 inches (give or take) but the magazine holds 7 + the chamber round.
- Action is smooth as silk.
- Ported barrel with choke options.
- And above all magazine fed.

the mount points are different for any bbl shorter than 12", Get a dominion arms 12" Grizzly & you can always put a longer bbl on later.

Yes, the MP5 would be a good choice, but if you want shorter, CanAm is bringing in 8.5" Grizzlies. With a Knoxx stock it will be just over 26" so NR. There might be a mag fed version too.

Where's the 12" barrel one? The only one I see on their site is 20". A 12-14" mag fed would be cool, just what I'm looking for.

Has anyone shortened a pump barrel themselves? I've found a cheap ($129) pump gun I'm thinking about picking up as a truck/beater gun. It's got a 28" I'd like to get that down to 18.5 (to be safe) and an OAL of just over the min.

Hacksaw (measure twice...) and a file ought to do it? Or is there more to it?

Not sure accuracy out of a short shotgun is in the cards to begin with...well, not past 35m anyways. But I await some responses to this.

Oh sorry, I meant in terms of like...which way the shot goes. If a gun is just sawn off, I am pretty sure it skews the accuracy in terms of predictability...it scatters where it wants... I doubt filing would do it... (although, I know people have gunsmiths do it for them... maybe ask one?)

I am in the exact same position, getting away from the liability/frustration of owning a unusable pistol. I'm also looking for the shortest unrestricted 12g that I can carry without fear of the man throwing me in the slammer for wanting to protect myself in thick bush.

Yesterday I checked out the Fabarm proforces and tactical models, I cant find the spec length but they must be around 26" and are the shortest I have found in Calgary. I can't find any meaningful reviews on them but they seem well made. Finish is better than the Norinco and they are way cheaper than the Remi. The salesmen was going off about how great they are......I would like the opinion of a dad-type "old guy" before I buy though. You might wanna check them out.

I can't see a real advantage to getting a pump shotgun with a two round mag. That gives you a total of three. You could get one of those Dominion SxS 12 gauges and keep the extra money. If you want to stay non restricted, the Valtro is a nice gun. I almost bought one. Mags seem hard to come by though. So I bought a Fabarm Martial Pro Forces from TSE and I'm really happy with it. It's short enough to be manoevered easily in close quarters if it's a home def gun. If it's gotta be 26" OAL, I's like that length to be made up of ammo and a barrel I could hit something with a little further than 10 yds. Not that those other guns aren't nice, don't get me wrong, they just don't seem practical.

If someone explains how to post a pic, I will put one up.

Go to photobucket.com, open up an account (free), upload the photo, then copy the [ img ] link under that photo (when you go view it in your album), and paste that exact link in the textbox when making a reply on here...and your photo will appear like Lindsay Lohan at a rehab clinic!

Emilio,

I'll set up the account once I get home, don't wanna do it from work. I'll post the pics and provide the actual length of the shotgun etc at that time. in the meantime, you should be able to see one in the dealer forum under The Shooting Edge under the Tactical Shotguns post on the first page. Here's the link.

Mine is the third one down. The prices are quite a bit lower than listed, so give them a call. They treated me well.

8.5", I am liking that.... so its essentially a legal kit people buy and put on an 870? Or does it have to be factory installed and purchased via Blueline..?

Valtro pump action - 14 in. bbl., box fed mags (7 rds.), very cool, excellent quality, very smooth action. Two issues - the mags are nowhere to be found and it kicks like a mule.
