Shorty M14 presale + .308 ammo deal

I was checking on Youtube for details on removing the stripper clip guide and the video showed removal of a pin which held the guide in place. On my shorty the hole where this pin should be installed appears to be empty - I can see daylight through it.

I'm reluctant to do anything without ensuring I won't damage my rifle. Anyone got advice on removing the stripper clip guide? Is it just a case of gently tapping it to the left with a hammer?

Take the bolt out , find a punch that will fit in the hole and after punching out the roll pin take a rubber mallet and pound off the stripper clip to the right.

I've got the clip guide out but now the CanadaAmmo rail absolutely will not thread into the hole on the left of the receiver.

Finally got my ammo. Got to shoot an m14 for the first time today. It blows up pumpkins good.

To everybody telling your delivery guy you got muffins I finally get the joke and I think my delivery guy was hungry because I found my box inside the back door already opened.

Had mine out today. No stoppages in 100 rounds and she was shooting nice groups with the Norc ammo. Scoop one of these up while CanAm still has some

Had mine out today and shot 90 rounds out of it , same thing .
Any ideas for the empty casings seeing as I believe we cant reload them ?
I think I read on here that it could be done but with difficulty ??

I knew trying that thing on my head was a bad idea .....Proof the gun and ammo work fine anyhow, I would like to say in my defense I didnt zero my sights with the new ammo .
Thats gotta be it .
It couldnt possibly be my fault ..... right ?
I was 3 for 3 with my Rem 760 Carbine in 30.06 ....so there
I liked the video of my son you sent me better .

Well, I'm back from the western front and all was not quiet this afternoon.

Got my shorty with ammo last Thursday, spent a day and a night caressing it ever so gently while working deep into all it's dark and greasy places and finally got some release today.

Went off with my some buddies to an obliging farmer's land outside of town and cracked off 20-30 mags worth of that delightful Norc ammo. Worked out well, since my friend needed to sight in his .270 and I my new Freudian boomstick.

She ain't perfect but she's pretty damn good. Oprod needs tweaking I think and the safety needs to get smoothed out. The windage and elevation knobs are just a hair stiffer than I'd like but actuate without too much finger spraining.

On a whole though, she's good now and only going to get better.

Also, my roommate's girlfriend was very upset when we shot her pumpkin.
In the face.
Quite a lot.

Maybe Hungry standing over you with a stick would have made you shoot better...lol :D

All in all I've been reasonalbly satisfied with the shorty... I'd do it again and recommend it to others. With some massageing it is a good fit for the Archangel stock.

That said I've got a quick question for those in the know. It seems to me that the barrel is off and before I head out to the range and dispatch with some menacing pumpkins that have been lying about I just wanted to make sure alls well. Is this the proper indexing for the M14 barrel.

Aside from that there's the expected Norc finishing/tooling like in this example...

... which I can live with. It'd be comforting to know that the barrel indexing is safe and how it is supposed to be for the model. Thanks for the input.
