It's copper washed steel case. I know people don't recommend reloading steel cases, but I know it can be done. Just watch out for case deformation.

I've read on the internet that you shouldn't use .308 ammo in firearms chambered for 7.62x51. Is this correct? I'm hoping to get an M14 and possibly use it for deer hunting.
I haven't seen any 7.62x51 other than FMJ.
Does the shortened barrel make this restricted?
