G'day. I recently scored one of the M14s from Marstar. I have been looking at pics online here and think I will eventually have the barrel shortened. My only concern would be the question of whether or not it affects the accuracy. Please reply with some information from experience as to whether or not this mod will reduce accuracy. Thanks.

Barrel length has almost nothing to do with mechanical accuracy. A longer sight radius makes it easier to shoot a rifle to its potential with iron sights, but I doubt you will see much of a difference.

It won't affect accuracy at all.....well, unless the re-crowing is botched or chrome damaged. You loose some bullet velocity, but few people are shooting past 4-600 yards anyway, so the loss is negligable. On some M14's, the accuracy can increase, as the shorter barrel becomes stiffer and reduces barrel whip. Dlask Arms in Delta BC has chopped 3 for me, worked out to $65/barrel plus shipping.

i am cutting down my m14,just waiting for a glfs from marstar and a flash hider from m14doctor...the 2 slowest shippers on cgn...

M14 Doctor is slow, there is no denying that. When he comes through, his products are usually quite good.

MARSTAR is NOT SLOW by any means from my previous purchases. The last included a GLFS in the order as well. Ordered on a friday morning, arrived to my house on the wednesday.
