Shorty M305

There's a sticky on that. Peen the bossed area where the guide goes. The peening raises the metal slightly to allow a tight fit. I wouldn't use expoxy.

Yup, this is the method taught at the clinics and it's very easy to do. Even easier if you have the actual peening pen (what a sweet tool).
I've also tightened one up with the roll pin within a roll pin technique, it's a lot harder to do but still got me very tight results.

Right now I have a full length 2009 Poly I bought used, and a 2012 (I think?) Norc shorty I bought from a CGN sponsor.
Both have all the standard tweaks; upgraded spring guide - rear sights - shimmed - oprod guide tightened (the norc was very tight right out of the box) - USGI glass & Boyds Walnut stock.

I will never part with the Poly, it's got >5000 rounds through it and it feels so smooth!

The Norc on the other hand has <1000 rounds through it and still just doesn't feel right. Trigger needs attention and I swear the oprod is just not 100% right, but I'll keep at it.

So yeah, I think it is hit and miss, and the more I read the more I think the older batches are better...

Thanks Odd Shot. The rifle is new to me and I was considering whether shortening a full length m305 was a good option.

If you get dlask to shorten thread and crown a standard barrel, you can also get them to install a gas lock front sight and a .30cal flash hider
One stop shopping :)
I sent them a barrel just a couple weeks ago, with all of the above requested... Already shipping back to me as of yesterday
