I am looking into building a shorty precision rifle. Haven't seen many of these around and I am interested in building one. My 16.5" builds in the past have been fun, and I want to go shorter
I'm still a student so its going to be a budget build on a 783 action if I go forward with it.
Here's what I am thinking:
783 SA
MDT LSS
MDT Composite carbine stock
MDT pistol grip
Custom medium profile barrel 12" or 13.5"
SBI Aegis 30 muzzle brake /w shield
My initial guesstimate for cost without optic is around $1500 or so.
Would be similar to my last rifle build but the barrel would be a few inches shorter. It would lighten up the rifle, and make it more compact for med range precision work, and be a good handy general purpose rifle. In NZ these types of rifles are called "Bush Pigs".
If anyone has a build similar I would love to see pics and hear what they have to say on the subject of SBR precision rifles, and what types of loads they are using (faster powders etc).
