SHOT '08.......Features of the MASADA/BUSHMASTER ACR ..........(Video)

An ACR in PRS model (think 18.6" barrel minimum) would be great...Non-restricted I would hope.

I have to say, that's pretty damn impressive. And I would assume importable too in the fixed stock config. The forward ambi cocking handle seems like a good idea but I would hope they fold down a bit because they protrude out like "canards" right now. It's like the AUG got molested by the AR-15 and I like it.

I talked to the Magpul guys about that. I suggested the fold down styles for a less protrusive layout and making it less loose (All the ACR cocking handles at the shot show rattled huge. I tried 4 of them and they all rattle and feel cheap due to loose fits.

More parts to make them fold. Tight=jammable by the introduction of dust.

They know what they are doing... filing the serial numbers of an AR-180, and putting it in a prom dress! :) mighty fine prom dress , though.

I've got to comment, though: I did not find it "light". An AR is light. The ACR is not heavy, but it's not light, either.

Maybe they should consider a folding cocking handle as in the G36? It swivels out and can be locked in place to use as a forward assist.

"Civillian and Law Enforcement expected release date second quarter 2008."

Unfortunately the new name will put it high on the anti's wish list of firearms to ban - Bushmaster Adaptive Combat Rifle (ACR). Bad name given the upcoming election I would think. Bushmaster BunnyGun might be a better name - more entertaining if it were to be banned anyway.

That's a disgustingly cool rifle. Hmmmmm AR trigger parts..... Bet it takes AR mags too. It'll be interesting to see how these things make it into the country.

I can only imagine having to actually use that goofy dig it out with a finger, then push in to lock G36 forward assist, while some howling freak in black pajamas comes after me with a panga machete.

I'll take big lumpy handles, thanks. Bonk then bang.

Watch the Gun Nazi's classify it as a varient of the AR15 because it uses AR trigger parts, though so does the AR180B, but as previously stated this is a "Combat" rifle and hence super evil. I hope it is not restricted though because I would be interested in one for sure.

This was the owners response (Rich Fitzpatrick...Magpul), on a question i asked (Lightfighter forum) about the charging handle options ...

" The charging handle and forward assist is steel with pinned polymer handles. The ones shown are the medium versions. We also have very small slim line version, a larger version and a super extended version that fold. This means that you can put a small handle on right and a large on your primary right side.

The location was a worry for me at first (I like the MP5 but hate the G3 charging handle) but it is within easy reach and now I prefer it compared to the original Masada concept. As for the two medium handles this is great for dual handed clearing of double feed malfunctions."

I wasn't jumping up and down when I read about the Masada.
But this 're-worked' and 'improved' version is actually quite nice.

And if it does go N/R.....(and the Lwrc) Just imagine the ammo shortage then if we can shoot these anywhere we want!!
